Doctoring up cigars w/ beat up wrappers

Anyone have any advice on how to help out a wrapper that is pretty banged up and split? I picked up 2 601 Habanas today while in Ybor City, and stuck them in my cargo pocket as I was leaving. I forgot about them all day, until I got home, only to find they'd been banged up pretty badly. I'm kicking myself for having let this happen, as I've been wanting to try these for awhile now.

"We can rebuild them...We have the technology...But I dont want to spend a lot.."

hehe I always get a kick out of that...

hmmm, thats tough man, if they are banged up pretty bad there is not much you can do about it. If its a split wrapper you can just try and light it up anyways and hope for the best. if its at the foot of the stogie it shouldnt make much of a different in my opinion, but i could be wrong. Anyways its tough to repair but good luck! :cb

It seems as if everytime I turn around the band takes part of the wrapper off :-( Good info here!

I am new to cigars but my advice is to just clip them down to the damage and smoke them. Enjoy what you can.

Or just light it up and go.

Seriously, I would fix a very expensive cigar or something extensively aged and irreplaceable. But the fixes posted seem like a lot of work for anything not too "special". :2

No but seriously...some of us are just looking for any little reason to get out all of the paraphernalia and play doctor while smoking another. Ya just gotsa have a repair kit for just those times. ;)

Sometimes I put on a monocle when I do it so I can see those tiny little cracks and rips. :ss

Greg's Certo is what I have always used... however most of the time I simply smoke the cigar and don't waste the time to repair...

If it starts unwrapping at the top where I cut the cap off I just use lots of slobber until it sticks together again
I'll second that!

And if that doesn't work I end up peeling enough off so it begins to fall apart... then I puff, spit, puff, spit, puff, spit...

I always use pectin (certo, i think). The stuff works wonders.

Also, I keep a few damaged cigars in my humidor. I never intend to smoke them, but often transplant the wrapper to other cigars. I just put a little pectin over the tear/hole, and affix the wrapper like a patch. Doesn't look pretty, but it works.

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully I can either doctor these up, or smoke the hell out of them at a rapid pace. I hear these 601's pack a punch though, so i may end up green. :pu
