Does time of day change what YOU like?

LIKES-A da SAUCE!
I had a cigar this afternoon, around 4:15pm and I didn't like it. I actually felt a little sick, but that very same cigar two nights ago with a beer at around 9 went great.. So.. Does the time of day change your smokes?

Yes. Not only time of day, but what I have eaten, what I am drinking, the kind of weather, my mood, and about any other variable will determine to some extent what I will smoke. Otherwise, there would only be need for one kind of cigar, and we all know how much that would suck.

I think sometimes I smoke cigars when I truly don't have time to enjoy it to the fullest. The true enjoyment comes with knowing you have time to smoke and relax and not be interrupted. It is that way with me. Sometimes it could be the consistency of the cigar being smoked.

Just goes to show how much I have to learn. I have just, today, grasped the idea of changing cigars according to time, mood etc... err, noobiehood can suck:cb

I'm the same way. In my line of work I do a ton of driving and therefore thought smoking cigars would be a nice way to enjoy some of the time in the car. And while yes it is enjoyable to do that, I have found that those instances where I have to get out of the car absolutely ruins my enjoyment of the stick. I smoked a Sancho Panza DM while at work and it got ruined because I had to leave it in the car. Smoked one today while doing nothing on my back deck and loved it. So, with realizing that I am spending roughly 2-3 bucks a stick I have chosen to not smoke at work. It sucks, but I enjoy the experience of the cigar too much to ruin it by not giving it the attention it deserves.

I try to always make sure that I only smoke if I can devote at least a full hour to it. I really only get the chance to smoke once or twice a week, so I make them as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

I don't think for me that it's the time of day per se that changes my enjoyment of a particular cigar, but there are times when I am definately in the mood for a particular type of cigar. I've had powerhouse cigars in the morning and mild ones at night...all depends on the mood i'm in.

yes:tpd:

I normally smoke a couple each day. One is always with my morning coffee and the other after supper. In the mornings I want something on the mild/ medium side. But later in the day or after a bigger meal I want something much stronger. The morning smokes just don't cut it later on. As I like to pair a cigar with bourbon in the evenings, something Cuban or with a lot of ligero is much more suitable.

Try this little exercise.

Close your eyes - think of the absolute perfect meal for you. Imagine the sights, aromas, tastes and feelings of contentment after you finish this feast.

Now

Imagine it's breakfast.

It does for me. I rarely get to smoke in the morning. Mainly because I want every possible second of sleep. But when I do I want something mild.

Now in the evenings, I want something robust, strong and large. 5 vegas A usually fits the bill

I still can't gain the desire to smoke a stogie early in the morning ... on a rare occasion I'll have the desire for a pipe early, but never a stogie.

Then again, I still reach for a Marlboro 10 seconds after waking up, so that may have a lot to do with it.

Of course it does.

The time of day and the amount of time.

I smoke a milder cigar in the morning, like a small panatella or a pc. After 12 noon I like a med - full bodied cigar.

As for time that comes into play as well. I am not going to smoke a torp when I know I only have 1/2 hour. You need to pick the correct time and mood for the cigar that you pick to smoke.
