DP Blue Label

So my DPG sampler came in today and I decided to pull the string on the Blue label this evening. I am sitting out on my patio smoking it as I write this. First impression was that it might have been a little moist but figured I would give it a shot anyways.

The wrapper was silky to the touch and very uniformly firm. Cut perfectly with my Xikar and toasted the foot.

I could tell it was going to be spicy from the start. It lit very well and huge amounts of smoke right from the get go. Just as I was expecting alot of spice/pepper right off the bat.

After about 2 inches the pepper mellowed a little and I started to get hints of chocolate when I exhaled through my nose.

Once I got to about the half way their was even less pepper and I started to get hints of leather and the sweetness of the chocolate was still there in the background. I also started to get a little bit of a coffee like afterttaste.

This bad boy has been burning straight as a razor and huge amounts of smoke with a fairly firm ash through the half way point.

Now that I am about an inch or 2 past the halfway point the coffee is gone being replaced with a grassy/hay taste. (Wasnt expecting that from this fella). I also had to make a small burn corection but nothing big.

The rest of the cigar was pretty much the same till the end. The first 3/4 of this thing was quite good but the last 1/4 seemed to flatten out to me. Other than that this was quite a nice smoke. I will let the others get a couple months rest in the humi and see what that does for them. I still think this was a pretty good smoke.

Re: DPG blue labe

right now i am enjoying the same one.
having some issues with the burn but overall really enjoying it

Re: DPG blue labe

Thanks for the review. I have a blue 5er sitting for a few weeks now and I think I'l l give them some more time.

Re: DPG blue labe

Smoked one of these the other night that's been sitting about 6 weeks...I did not get the peppery taste that I find in other Pepin's but it was a tasty smoke nonetheless. One thing that did disturb me was a rather large vein in the wrapper that I was sure would cause a problem but didn't.

Thanks for the review!

I just got a fiver of these that I have resting while I try to work my courage up enough to smoke anohter one of them. The last one I had beat me up pretty good. That smoke aint no child's toy.

Re: DPG blue labe

i got an 8 cigar sampler yesterday and one of them was a blue label. i ll have to try it thanks for the review. right now the cuban classic is my favorite pepin

Thank you for the review. The blue is one of my all time favorites. I try to keep them around in multiple sizes to fit in around time constraints.

I have been smoking the Blue Lable Exquistios 5.62x46 ring size seems like the perfect size for me. The only thing is it makes it hard to pick up a box being this size has 50 in a box.

Sitting back on my pation smoking another one of these listening to Johnny Cash right now. Just as good as the last one.
