For gorillas with Netflix, you might want to put this one in your queue (or scour your local video store):

The Fabulous Story of the Cuban Cigar

"As any aficionado will tell you, Havana is the birthplace of the greatest stogies on the planet. This informative documentary unlocks the secrets behind the intricate leaf-rolling process that creates the much-sought-after "Havana smoke." The producers tour the island's lush tobacco regions, where the soil is rich enough to grow the celebrated leaf. Also included are interviews with collectors who work to keep the legend alive."

Note: I couldn't figure out where to put this thread. I didn't want to put it in Habanos Only Lounge because I am certain NC smokers would be interested too. I didn't want to put it in Reviews because I've not seen it, and I didn't want to put it in Questions, because I don't have any questions about it. Really, it's just an FYI to all BOTL/SOTL.

If you have the power to move this thread, and feel it doesn't belong here, that's cool by me. :)

I am a blockbuster.com member and found that DVD and put it in my queue.

I also found this one:

STICKS (1998)

Lenny (Lillo Brancato) supplies the rarest of imported cigars to the city's highest rollers, who pay him dearly for his illicit "sticks." His latest shipment of Fidel Castro's favorite, the Los Mariposas brand, has been stolen by Maria (Justina Machado), who is trading them for guns to give to Cuban freedom fighters. But Lenny's mobster customers, lead by Domino (Leo Rossi), want their cigars, and the Feds want Domino. Lenny ends up between the two factions -- mobsters and Federal agents -- when the Feds compel him to become bait. All Lenny wants is his life -- and his cigars. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie GuideRead more.
Starring: Lillo Brancato

I love the scene with "the Vault" and the scene where Don Alejandro Robania rolls a cigar on his leg.......

I would love to see that dvd, but I canceled my Netflix membership because I live so far out in the sticks, it took 5 days to get a movie.

I used to be with Netflix but you cannot beat Blockbuster now. They changed the rules so that you can turn in the DVD's that are mailed to you to a local store and pick up a new movie at the store instead of mailing them back. Then after you turn it in you still get your next one in the queue mailed to you.

Thanks for the heads up. We may be in the sticks but we do have a Blockbuster.

I bought a copy about a year ago and it's a "must see" IMO. I took it to Frank and Anita's and I think they made several copies that they sent out. If you can get your hands on it, you won't be disappointed.

According to BB, both DVDs are on the way to me and I look forward to watching them.

I didn't think you could copy DVD's anymore? Don't they have write protection these days?

I watched this movie with my wife tonight. I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars. I wrote a short review in the entertainment forum.

I was gifted a copy.

I look forward to watching it over the Christmas or New Years break.

After seeing this thread, I rented The Fabulous Story of the Cuban Cigar from Netflix. It's right at an hour long and worth watching. In the movie, you really see just how many people are involved with each cigar. Just my :2

I still haven't seen TFSOTCC yet. It's the next movie in my queue though. I'll post a little review once I've watched it.

Does anybody know of any other cigar themed flicks besides this one and Sticks?
