Etiquette for reviews

Forgive me for posting a question in a non question forum, but I figured this would be a good place for it too...

If I'd like to write a review on a previously reviewed cigar, should I start my own thread or add my review to the old one?

Thank you!

I believe either is acceptable but there are 2 reasons to post in a previous thread:

1. It's easier to see all the different opinions on the same cigar if the reviews are in one thread.
2. It's easier on the housekeeping side for the site owner if there are fewer threads.

I was thinking that way too, but just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be considered a rude 'thread hijack' to give a full review instead of a less detailed oppinon of the cigar.

Thank you for your response.

I guess it comes down to preference. Personally, and I don't think I'm alone, I like people who post in existing threads before starting their own. It makes it tidier and the information is more consolidated.

I think there is no wrong answer but I will start a new thread if it's a new or little known cigar and I have pics. I freely contribute my 2cents to an old thread if I see one.

I believe in the Habanos forum Dave has requested that we piggyback new reviews to one that already exists, if possible. :tu

While I normally agree on posting in existing threads - it really sucks for people like me who don't actually read all the replies. Therefore, although I read the first post, since that is what I was interested in - I may or may not see a new review especially if there are a page or two of replies.

Thank you all for your time and responses. As a last thought, would the time lapsed between the original review and my review be taken into consideration? If the original is 6 months or a year old and would only realistically be found via search-fu, ressurecting the thread with the new review would be good to go?

Thanks again!

If the thread is six months old that means that there hasn't been that much interest in the subject, at least to warrant new posts. I think that's a good argument not to start a new thread.

When you make a new post in an old thread, it gets bumped to the top and everyone will see it.

Post your own, When your done you can comment on thiers and then you can also add a link to your post

:tpd: and that is my :2
