Evolving or Devolving?

Thanks for this insight.
I love to hear from the FOG's who have been enjoying this hobby for much longer than I have.
Lately, I have been buying aged and rare cigars based on opinions of others.
I've already spent way more than I wanted to this year probably because I know that once my baby is born, I will not want to, nor be able to spend money on cigars when there is something far more important in my life.
This one single thread is going to have a huge influence on my cigar spending habits in the future and I'm truly thankful for that.
Heck, a Padron 2000 was one of the first cigars that blew me away...they're relatively inexpensive, and I still enjoy them!

Thanks again sgoselin!! :tu

I like what you have typed. I also seem to enjoy a smoke that was traded or bombed more than one I buy. Not nessarily because I liked it, but because someone thought enough to send it to me. Didn't finish all of them, but had a blast trying them out.

I can't afford what some consider "premium" cigars. I appreciate the ones I receive. I do bomb and trade with either a bit of research in the other persons profile or send something a bit out for them to have new. All depends on what's in the box.

Good thread here.

I'm gonna smoke that bad boy right now, Julian. :)
I'm headed for the car with it.
Like I said, for me, it's not nearly so much about the "like" as it is the opportunity.
If it were not for you and so many other brothers here, I'd have never found the jewels that I have. I figured from the start that I'd have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, and that's what this thing is.
A couple years from now my humi's will be full of stuff that I actually like as a result of the generosity here.
Who knows, that SP you sent might be just what I like. I just keep an open mind and keep smoking everything anyone sends. I love it, and I love you guys for it. Doesn't make a shit whether I like the cigar or not, ya know?
If it weren't for you, when would I ever get a chance to burn an '01 Sancho Panza? That's what I'm talking about. :tu
That's cool, and whether or not I like the cigar has no bearing whatever on how excited I am to quit typing and get to smoking. :)
Thanks Julian!!!

I had this happen with my stereo hobby about 20 years ago.
Got so caught up in the equipment that I forgot about the MUSIC.
And enjoying a good smoke IS much like listening to great music.
Sometimes I like classical, sometimes oldies, and every once in awhile, something new will even impress me.
Thanks for your wisdom, hopefully it will help me keep my perspective.

Hey,,,,the "Pot" is a big one. At the end of the day it's all about what we like,,,not what others tell us to like. It's nice that you have a "healthy" budget to allocate funds to our favorite vice,,,,I'm sure we have alot of BOTL who could rival you with what is spent per year on cigars. I will keep an eye out for your "favorites" but will still enjoy mine,,,,Rocky Patel, Fuente, Gurkha
