The wife was driving my son home from hockey practice. She called and said she just hit a deer.

I asked her if there was much damage. She was too shocked to stop and look. She almost made it home, but I had to head out to get her because she thought she had a flat.

When I got to her, there wasn't a flat, but not much of a front end either.

No comes the fun part, dealing with the insurance company. I figure the deductible with kill the cigar budget for a while.

Hey bud. Sorry about to car damage, but thank God the family is safe. you shouldn't have any problem with the insurance other than the deductable.

That sucks bro. I'm sorry you have to deal with the insurance drama now. At least the family was okay. Good Luck:tu

Had a run in with a deer once myself. They can cause a whole lot of damage. Glad your family was unhurt!:tu

ouch!!! glad to hear the wife & son are ok
that looks like a large & an expensive repair
the insurance co won't be so bad, just find a good body shop

Back in 1972, I remember 4 of us were driving back from a visit in La Honda to San Mateo late one night in a Datsun. This is in the mountains located in the San Francisco Bay area. We were traveling around 30 to 35 mph in the turns, when suddenly a large buck jumped right into our path no more than what seemed 20' in front of the vehicle. My buddy slams on the brakes to no avil, strikes the buck, which causes the buck to come up over the hood but slid off to the right side of the car. Nonetheless, we came to a stop and walked back to the buck which had passed unfortunately. A Sheriff vehicle drove passed later and we reported the incident and that was that. The Datsun really did not suffer too much damage though. Gotta be careful in deer country.

Fortunately, your wife and son were ok and that's the main thing...:tu

That sucks, but next time tell your wife to load up the deer, so you can at least get some good venison out of the deal.:r

Just went through this ourselves back in November. Cost > $5,000. 100 deductible. Insurance tried to pull a fast one and told the auto body place to replace the damaged parts with "used" parts. I said no way and they only paid a portion of the bill I'm still fighting the insurance company. Better luck to you mate! No one hurt that was the good news. Still have the van and it is running as good as new. We went for the original manufacturer's parts. :gn:gn:gn

I ride those roads on my motorcycle all the time. Luckily I have avoided any deer incidents so far.

Wow! Thank God the fam is safe and sound!

Just out of curiosity is that deer poo above the wheel well?

Glad your family is safe and well. :)

Like others around here both my wife and I have hit deer all within 2 miles of home (not at the same time; lol). When you live in deer country like we do it's to be expected. Just take a patience pill before dealing with the insurance people. Sorry about the cigar budget.

And where are all the stories of the good deer sausage you had made with all these deer yall took down. Down south we have to shoot our deer but if one ever stepped in front the truck it's goin home with me.:ss
