Favorite ways to enjoy a cigar....

Interesting thread. I enjoyed reading all of your comments and thought I would add mine as well.

I enjoy my smokes in the evening as the sun goes down. Sitting on the Lani with a cup of balck coffee. I enjoy reading CA, the paper of maybe a book. Sometimes I enjoy just sitting in peace and quiet while my concentration focuses on enjoying my cigar.

Out on the patio on a Saturday evening among good friends, good food & laughter is the best time for me (unless of course when Im in Spingfield for the herf)

I'm relatively new to cigars as a regular interest (< 1 year) and have only recently joined this great online community. I find the opinions expressed on this site to be very valuable...it seems like many of you actually know what you're talking about! :D

Anyway, I have finally filled my first humidor and I can't stop walking by to check on it! It has some glass so I can see the stash w/o disturbing it. Although I'm becoming more interested all the time in many of the brands that are most often mentioned on this site, here is how my 100ct box is filled with my current favorites:

regulars: Bohio lonsdale naturals
less often: Don Tomas Int'l Selection, dble corona maduros
special: Fuente D'Oro churchills (connecticut shade)

I know that cigar tastes are a personal thing, and many of you may look at my stock and roll your eyes at my *newbie* choices, BUT hey, these are the ones that I settled on after trying various brands and anyway, I'm not married to them and know I can move to some of the more popular brands in future.

IN ANY CASE...I was interested in how everyone smokes. My own favorite is 1-3 /wk (I'm a light smoker) to settle in a comfy chair out back and watch the bats swoop down over my yard at twilight. Preferred drink is amaretto or a coffee liqueur. If I enjoy a cigar during the day, I usually like to have a beer (Corona) or sometimes just coffee. Wife's presence is optional... :p

Penny for your thoughts? :w

I like it best after catching some good waves, go sit in the backyard by the pool with my dogs,a cold Icehouse and a Vegas Robaina

It's interesting how my tastes have evolved in a little over a year. I now still enjoy the Don Tomas maduros, am less thrilled with the AF churchills, and leave the Bohios for my non-smoking friends who "want to try".

Now my favs are LGC Serie R #4, and Onyx torpedos. I am considering trying the CAO Brazilia GOL! even tho they are not my favorite maduro shade, but they sure look dark!

Outside when its warm enough. At the local American Legion in the winter,,,a lot of the greatest Generation still go there and they had a lot more serious things to contend with in their life than cigar smoke///No eye rolling or sighs...

Jerry in Minnesota.

I'm an outside smoker only, and only late at night, with children abed and asleep. My wife sometimes joins me with a cigarette. Occasionally I get the chance to work from home, and I can have a cigar during the day. I have smoked while taking the dog for a walk, but it doesn't really work for me - I like to walk fast with the dog, and I like to smoke slowly and contemplatively. I'd rather sit comfortably and just mellow out...

I've recently discovered that a glass of madeira makes an excellent complement to a cigar.

cheers,
- A.

My favorite way has got to be sitting in the backyard, kicking back with a beverage :al on a nice warm sunny afternoon reading the paper or a magazine,or after work on a starlit night. Also going for a long drive :z and burning a really good cigar is a really great thing to me.Music cranked and cruising along... in no big hurry, just enjoying the ride and my cigar  ...I love that!

I like to enjoy a cigar the the American Legion also! Alas, many of the people there really hassle me for smoking a cigar, even though most are smoking cigarettes. Still, I enjoy doing it there, with a few friends.

For some reason, the moonlight is always the best time for me. During the summer months i usually wait till that moment at night when you can feel the cool breaze start to role in. Then the 2nd story patio beckons me. Very rarely smoke during the day for some reason. I love to just sit and listen to the wildlife etc, and contemplate the smoke im having. Sometimes i like a good book or write some on my stories while i ponder life haha! As for a drink, scotch rarely, but a glass of iced tea or a rootbeer suit me just fine.

My favorite place to smoke is in the hot tub on my back patio. My backyard looks out over the Sandi Mountains hear in New Mexico and the view is never the same through the day or seasons. As I am “seasonal” smoker, I prefer to do it as the weather permits. I’ve made the mistake of smoking a strong cigar and spending waaaaaaaaay to long in the tub then getting out and hitting the dirt! That’s a lesson you only need to learn once!

I'm an outdoor smoker as well. I like to enjoy a Monty #4 or RyJ Cedro #3 in the evening after dinner with a beer or a glass of Knob Creek on the deck.

Nice and relaxing...

I usually sit on the patio looking out over the pool into the trees toward the back of my property around sunset. I drink anything from water to bourbon.
I usually do not read, I just enjoy the evening.

My Favorite way to enjoy a cigar!!!!!! I have tried several different way to smoke a cigar. On my head is really hard. I tried to smoke and whole Fuente Canones standing on one foot once it didn't work out... :D

But really the way I smoke a cigar is out on my back deck with my cousin Wayne and his son Bill. We sit down light up our favorite Stogie, sometimes get a bevridge, and sometime not. Then we just sit and talk all night long. The company is great and the smoke is great.

Then sometime I like to smoke by myself. This is when i usually sit down to ponder the cigar. I love to taste and relate the taste of a cigar to other things. Then sometime Write a clubstogie review. Since this is my late night at work tonight I have a Perdomo Reserve Cabinet Series La Tradicion Camaroon wrapper. I have written a little review earlier but it was not detailed and I am going to write a better more detailed review this time.

I, too, cannot smoke in the house or anywhere near the kids. So I usually end up in the backyard at 10pm with a Rum and Coke and a Padron 3000, lying on a lawn-chair, looking at the stars.

I do get out to the remote desert with my local astronomy club, and always take a couple sticks along. (gotta be careful I don't set the dry mesquite on fire!!)

I also take a couple along when golfing on the weekends. Helps calm down my swing and my putts.

So I go through about a box every three months or so.

Summer/Spring/Fall - I enjoy sitting on my back deck early or late evening time enjoying my cigars. Drinks: Water, coffee, or wine. I enjoy listening to the sounds around me. Sometimes kids playing off in the distance. Sometimes it just the crickets.

Anytime of the year - I enjoy smoking at my local cigar lounge. Great big comfy leather chairs. Great climate control - just right on those really HOT days or those really COLD days. I sometimes bring a book to read, or watch what is on the big screen t.v.

The BEST way - is with friends. Although it is nice to smoke a cigar in solitude, I still enjoy smoking with fellow lovers of the leaf. There is that unspoken bond......it is nice to be able to spend that time with someone else who can appreciate the cigars......sometimes a lot is spoken, and yet there may be hardly any words said.......it is a very enjoyable and great time.

I try to be a little more cautious about what I take out on the course...stogies tend to have the opposite affect for me,especially the stronger ones, although I do love burning one or two when I'm playing!

Every time I see the title for this thread it cracks me up. I usually enjoy them by smoking them, but other approaches have been tried, as well. :D

Kudos to Moki for being nuts enough to try something like this.

There are different places I really enjoy a Cigar..

Driving the boat! I love to sit and drive the boat and watch my friends wakeboard. I have a bad back so I cannot ride as much as I would like but it is fun to be the capm'..

Walking through the wildlife refuge with my Lab.. When he hears me get into my stash he goes nuts!

Sitting on the patio with coffee and friends playing cribbage...

Sitting on the beach on my log swing after the sun goes down in front of a bon fire...

HAH! That is an angle I did not anticipate when I opened this thread last September....but then again, I continue to be amazed that it keeps being revived and has had so many views/comments in the last year! It's great to see how everyone approaches this pastime...

Thanks for your continued input!

I smoke when taking my friend's money at Texas Hold'em! I blow a big cloud of smoke in their face and then check raise. :fu Ha ha. Works like a charm.
