just curious if anyone had had probs with them , as ive seen most on here ship usps, or ups? been working on something and hope to get out tomorrow, lost power this evening just as i called the outlet...kinda saw that as a good sign.........lol

Have heard some bad things about FedEx recently and although I've never used them for cigars in the past I will never do it now. (packages randomly opened because they felt like it)

I don't know about using any of the couriers inside the States, but if you ship to Canada they all had everything off to customs , who search.....:hn:mad:

i think it was fed ex that got a new xray machine in houston and they were xraying everything that was shipped fedex

Our problems usually happen when the rgular driver takes the day off. Ido know they got cut off by Allen Bros Steaks. They went to UPS.

Fedex = problems.
Agree. I have an order shipped out on Aug 18 and supposed to arrive today. However, I have no idea what happened, it said to be re-arranged a schedule and deliver on Aug 26!!!!
My sticks!!!!!!

In addition, they just leave stuffs out side your apartment and do not require signature. Scared!

FedEx is horrible, where do I begin?

First off, most if not all of the delivery people are contractors, not regular FedEx employees so they do as they damn well please. I know so many people who have had trouble (myself included) with the lousy delivery people that I avoid those losers at all costs. I don't like their Tuesday through Saturday delivery schedule. In my area, they are not as convenient as UPS. I can't count the number of packages I was supposed to receive "overnight" that took two to three days. Oh yeah, they refunded their extra fee for overnight but darn it, I wanted the package OVERNIGHT, not in two to three days. Those thieves used to have an expression "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight" which has obviously fallen by the wayside and like I said, I think it has everything to do with the fact that the delivery guys are contractors and therefore all sense of accountability has gone out the window with these losers.

I have never had problems with "Brown" (UPS) and I think they're a fantastic company (no, I don't work for them). I've shipped hundreds and hundreds of packages USPS and have only had one very late (3 weeks when it should have been two days) and one that never got delivered. In the whole scheme of things, that's pretty darn good.

good enough , im convinced ill be shipping it ups, thanks for your input guys!

UPS isn't as cost effective for smaller packages as USPS. I've found that the break even is generally around 6lbs but that depends on how far you have to ship it because with UPS, the longer the distance, the more it costs. UPS ground also takes about 5 days to cross the country whereas USPS Priority is almost always 2 days in the lower 48 and USPS Priority is the same rate for 1lb and under no matter on how far the distance is even to Alaska and Hawaii.

I forgot to mention, DHL is no great shakes either.

Couldn't tell you about FedEX for cigar shipping, But for shipping guitars, they are much more reliable than UPS. UPS has a nasty tendency to break the necks of guitars sent through them, while people who send FedEX almost never have problems. Just my :2, YMMV.

DHL is horrid. Fedex around here is getting better, I get packages via Fedex.
I use UPS and USPS. No problems and lots of friends and family work for UPS and the post office.

When I get something using Fed-ex or USPS the driver always rings the doorbell or knocks to let me know. With UPS I only find my package if I happen to look on the porch.

For ground shipping, I've had no problems at all with FedEx. Compared to UPS they are much faster, and they also deliever on Saturdays, which UPS does not. If it's not a huge package, and it's going coast to coast, I'd do USPS priority mail, UPS Ground sucks, takes over a week in most cases.

Fedex = problems.

:tpd: What these guys are saying is that if you ship nc's with them you probably will have no problems. But if you are shipping "other" cigars, don't chance it. Like mmblz said, bad things have started to happen recently.

a very good friend of mine from (insert far away country) shipped a box of very rare and vintage cigars to a gentleman here in the US, using fed-ex (within the last month).
the cigars were x-rayed, opened and confiscated.
the gentleman recieved a letter (of contents i do not know of) and no cigars.
the gentleman is out $1,000.00 usd.

that is enough for me to stay the F away!

i use USPS all the time and never had any problems (knock on wood).

good luck gorillas.

For me it isn't just FedEx, Ups kinda sucks also. Oh the boxes get here fast enough but both carriers don't knock, or ring the doorbell. They both just leave the boxes right in front of the door where anyone walking or driving past the house can see and steal them. Last week my daughter and I were sitting in the living room waiting for FedEx to arrive, front door and windows were open and they still don't knock, or ring the bell to let you know they were there. I get grit delivered from FedEx and the last 2 times they came we heard a huge thump on the porch and once, the wife looked out just in time to see the driver throw the box of grit on the porch without even walking up our 5 steps to get on the porch. 3 of my bags of grit were split open and mixed together. I'd say 5lbs out of the 25lbs of grit were trashed. The USPS will at least leave all boxes behind the wall on out porch so nobody can see them.
