Fishing trip, and a Padron

Question: Does the fishing trip make the cigar better, or does the cigar make the fishing trip better.???

Last week I was in the Chicago area for some job training and seminars. We were pretty busy most of the week, but they had some trips planned for us Thursday afternoon. Before I traveled there I was asked if I wanted to join in a golfing outing or fishing. Since I don't golf I of course choose the fishing.

The company setup a charter for 5 hours of Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.
The trip to the lake didn't start off to good. A little over two hours drive time from Orland Park IL, to the Wisconsin state line in very heavy traffic. That had a couple of us cussing the whole idea of this trip, but as soon as you step on the boat and head out to the open water all the trouble getting there is quickly forgotten..Then you get all the lines out and a few minutes later the Capitan is yelling "fish on" you are thinking that wasn't a bad drive at all.
Fire up a Padron, sip on a cold beer and fish, one of my best days in a long time..Just had to share this with my CS family.

I don't usually like to have my picture taken, but I had to have my buddy take one of me enjoying the day..

Going to fire up the grill tomorrow for this one..
Hope to fire up another Padron too.

Very nice. I was bobbing on my kayak in the intracoastal last week enjoying an assortment of robustos. No salmon, however. I did get to see a few pretty big redfish, and caught a flounder on a fly rod -- a first for me.

You look like you were having a better time than me. Great pic!

Wow - this post couldn't have come at a better time! I was just talking to the girlfriend about a trip just like that. We're just a few hours from Chicago and thought it would be most cool to charter a boat and go out fishing for a day.

Now I'm sold on the idea - and I suck at fishing! Just the idea of sitting back on the boat for a few hours, fishing, drinking and relaxing sounds like a darned good time!

Glad you had an enjoyable day Jeff. I'd sure like to have the slabs off that one there to put in the old smoker. :tu

nice fish Jeff, were you lucky rod #13?

No, we cut cards to go in order. No matter what rod had a "fish on" who ever was up got that rod/fish..Set back and enjoy the ride, beer and cigar until your turn to reel 'em in.

Rod #14 was the hot one. Four or five fish caught on that one.

Nice catch. A day spent fishing and smoking is always good...especially if you are smoking a Padron.

WOW Jeff, that moment is one heck of a life experience. Nice fish. Nice cigar. Nice time!!
