For those considering an Aristocrat

Get the full extension shelves. I know the money makes you think "Why" but trust me on this. Having had one with and one without it makes a world of difference to be able to touch any box you own in about 6 seconds.

May I recommend...:ss

You poor thing! :D

I am sorry that one of your TWO aristocrats doesn't have the full extensions.

Noted. Thanks for the tip. Still saving for my first Aristocrat. If you've any more pointers, let's have 'em! :)

Like so many things in life there are compromises here. The rollout shelves are convenient, but you do lose a bit of storage space.

Convienent doesn't even begin to cover it. I have a box of 94 SLR Regios, last time I was trying to find them it took me forever. I had to pull everything out. This time it took less than ten seconds.

On that front -- and I hope this isn't a thread jack -- do the Aristocrat THC models experience the RH swings that many wine coolidors are known for? And, what about condensation? Same there too? I'm about at the end of my rope having to empty my drip tray twice a day while struggling to keep my RH at 65% -- and that's with active humidification and beads! I don't think I could maintain 70% in my EdgeStar even if I wanted to.

  • I used to have a couple of Haier wine coolers set up that I had a hard time controlling in the summer - wild fluctuations in humidity. Since going with an Aristocrat, the swings are very mild and nothing the system can't handle. If the cooling units didn't need to run so much in the summer, there would be no fluctuation at all. In the winter it's rock solid.

  • Likewise, the wine coolers gave me some condensate issues. The Aristocrat hasn't generated any condensate yet that I've ever noticed, and if it did, there's a collection tray that automatically drains back into the humidification unit. The Set and Forget system is exactly that.

I considered an Aristocrat but figured the mortgage and child support payments should come first!! :r

Full extension shelves.

The "set and forget" controller is preset from Aristocrat to maintain 65% RH and Temp is preset for 68 Deg. The system will turn on if the RH drops below 63% and a Temp above 70 Deg.

Here is a picture of what happens to any condensation.

Bryan,
Can't you call up Bob and order extension shelves to install yourself?
I believe he can do that for you....and that would solve your issue.

Ohhh... what I would pay to touch your boxes for 6 seconds.:ss

Matt somewhere you guys have got it completely twisted lol. I HAD one without full extension previously and now I HAVE one with full extension.

:tpd: Most assuredly. Especially if you live in an abode where the temp gets up over 80 degrees during the day. Also, buy more cooling power and insulation than you think you'll need (i.e. if Bob recommends one cooler, get two; if he recs two, get three or four).

I wish I'd bought six, living in an old house in Tejas. I have very few regrets in life, and having under-bought on cooling power for my Aristocrat is up there near the top. I worry far less about things like my career and retirement savings than I do about how f-ing stressful it is that my Aristocrat can't pull the temp down efficiently enough during a summer when we've crossed over 100 degrees nearly 50 times.
