What is your opinion on this cigar after having one. I have not but I have thought since the beginning that it was just a new Gimmick to sell cigars. (Created by a sales rep.....)

Re: For thoes who have tried a Nub Cigar

I'll go middle ground on this one. Had my first one this past Friday. Didn't blow me away, but wasn't awlful either. I did have to refill my torch, and in my opinion, the sheer gurth of it made it smoke hot alot sooner than a normal stick would. It was a Cammie I smoked.

I have not tried one of these, so I will not vote, but I'll pass a subjective opinion. I think it must be tough for manufacturers to come up with new innovations in the cigar world. However, I don't think new shapes are the answer. To me, its all about the leaf itself, maybe creating more strains, fermentation methods, etc. For example, the medio tempo wrapper created by Nunez for the Partagas Black. Innovation along those lines, is worth checking out.

I actually really liked the Cameroon. I thought the Connecticut was too mild for me. I have not tried the Habano yet. If they were a couple bucks cheaper I would porbably smoke them a lot more. Maybe when the hype goes down they will drop in price. Not a bad cigar, but IMO there are better smokes for the $$

Although I don't think these cigars are revolutionary, I also don't think it's very cool for anyone to dog someone in the business who offers up something different. (regardless of how the new product may have been marketed)

What I find to be absolutely hilarious is it being a gimmick to sell cigars (thought up by a sales rep) worked like a charm. The fact that you and 500 other people made a thread like this proves that.

I'm not sure if you know anything about marketing but it's very difficult to sell something nobody knows about unless you get people to know about it. Sometimes that requires making bold statements and standing by them :tu

All I'm saying is, you have to smoke one to truly judge one. You can't assume that because the marketing seems bogus, that the cigar is.

The guy who started this thread is a perfect example as to why Nub cigars are selling :r People haven't even smoked them yet their carrying on about them in numerous threads across many different cigar forums.

As far as sweet spot "theory" I don't think this was as much theory as it was action. According to what I've read and heard from others, is that they really only use the interior 3-4 inches of the filler and binder. If Sam thinks that's the reason the middle of a cigar is usually where it gets best, he's allowed to think that.

Doesn't mean I think that tho :D Also doesn't mean I should scoff at his idea and decide to berate his product constantly as nothing but a stupid marketing gimmick. I think more of the hostility towards this product has to do with previous encounters with Sam. I guess he got himself a bad rap his first time here.

:r Reality vs promotion.

Smoked em. They are short fat cigars with no particular nuance or flavors that differentiate them from other short fat cigars. If you like short fat cigars you should try them and see if they appeal to you. I don't smoke short fat cigars and smoking these did not convert me from the 5-7 inch,38-50 RG camp. They appear to be well made but seem to have a tendency to crack wrappers pretty frequently.

I have one but haven't fired it up yet. As all have said, try one for yourself. Perhaps you'll like it. Perhaps you won't. That is all that matters though.

Dustin, you should sell those names to Sam. "Hey guys, anyone down for a box split of Nubberoonis?" :D

i think they're great. I've tried two nubs thus far & both of them were great. Were they on par with a PAM or Opus...no, but they're not trying to be at that point either.

They're a relatively affordable cigar that packs a decent amount of flavor. I enjoy them. Only problem i have is they tend to be awkward to smoke, unless you get the box pressed torp.

i vote for kick butt but that's just my two pennies

Do I detect a back peddle here? LOL No, I agree you can't judge a cigar by the hype and you shold never judge it by the label
