Books, Beer, and Smokes
Having mooched off of my roommate's humi space for the past few months, I have just finally ordered a nice 100 ct. from cuban crafters.

This arises a problem, as of 11:30 PM two nights ago, I have not a cigar to my name. What the hell is a brand new humidor going to look like cigarless!?!?

So, I am about to embark on my first major cigar purchase spree (I am well aware that I am losing traction on this slope).

Gorillas, feel free to make suggestions on what my new humi needs to be holding.

Thanks!

What do you like?? Thats what it should hold.

How much $$$ are you mad at??:D

You can't go wrong with Padrons. 3000 or 4000 I like the maduros

152 posts and no cigar purchases, wow, thats restraint if I have ever seen it. Anyway, I got 2 words for quality sticks that won't destroy the bank.

Padron, and Oliva

I also rec. picking out a cooler soon, you'll need it. Enjoy

check out txmatt's cheap smokes thread-cbid is good for samplers & 5ers to start out-you can cross reference the smokes to the regular CI site to check prices & how strong the stick is-this way you don't end up buying a box you don't like-my tastes changed pretty quickly in my 1st year smoking, i don't think i bought a box till my 2nd year-hope this helps

Go nuts on c-bid fivers. Anything that looks good really. Try some IT Cuban Corojo, Super Fuerte, Perdomo Champagne, El Mejor Espresso, Olivas, Padrons, Fuente Chateau Maduros and Cuban Beli, Peterson Gran Reserva, 5 Vegas A. That should be enough to get you on your way. Good luck and Godspeed.

CBid 5ers, whatever looks interesting. :) CigarsInternational.com has the Mild, Mild/Med, and Med/Full taster packs (10 cigars in each taster pack, 2 each of 5 different ones, for $30. Good deals.)

Also, account for the fact that most humis don't really hold the advertised amount. If it says 100, it's probably more on the lines of 50-75, depending on size of your cigars, etc... So plan accordingly. Don't go get 20 5-packs, since it's unlikely they'll find a home. :)

My recommendation -- a Mild and a Mild/Med taster pack (20 cigars), a 5-er of Padron #2000 (the only Padron I've had -- tasty!), a 5-er of Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro, plus whatever else tickles your fancy.

Go to your local B&M and buy some Fuentes.

Just buy a variety of them. This way you can give them a try. If they have Pardons I suggest buying and trying some of those as well.

Get some samplers and figure out what you like, it can be a long process so take your time and enjoy !

also Famous smokes has this five pack frenzy you should give a try, buy for packs get one free. Oh and free shipping with a 100 dollar purchase.

Famous Smokes is the way I went for 5ers and auctions
You end up needing more space.
Good luck on your quest.....

If you already know what you like you should get at least 10 of those. Samplers are nice, but there will be times when you want a go to smoke on hand.

... I think I said something along the lines of first major cigar spending spree.

I've always gone to B&Ms and purchased like 5 sticks or so at a time, never like fifty.

I think I may have made this post confusing.

I consider myself a newbie because I've only been smoking cigars for a year or so now. I've tried plenty and know what I like.

The purpose of this post was to see if anyone had some suggestions that I may have not tried before or thought about trying.

I do appreciate the insight though. Thanks everyone.

Just a suggestion, but I say invest in some eye candy for the top shelf. You know, like some of Fuente's stuff: God of Fire, Forbidden X, that kind of thing. Overpriced and overhyped, perhaps, but it can give you a warm and satisfying feeling to open up your humi and behold these beauties lookin' back at you. :)

If you haven't tried anything from CAO I highly suggest picking up one or more of each; Gold, Brazilia, Italia, Criollo and CX2. They are all great cigars at any size, and they aren't too hard on the wallet. The Gold is my favorite by far. Very light taste, and not too overwhelming even for an early morning smoke. Congrats on your humi :)
