Oh well I didn't read all the fine print. I figured as long as I had one CC that I didn't like better than an Opus X I should vote for Opus X. Since I have had a CC that is worse than an Opus X I voted for Opus X.
All is good here:tu. Doesn't matter who you vote for, I am merely an observer.

You think Monte#2 is better thatn Opus? Hmmm... I was gifted one of those, might have to light her up!

I'm with St. Lou Stu as far as the #2 is concerned, especially after they've rested for a good year. Spark her up if she's been sitting for a while. It's a guaranteed 90 minutes of enjoyment. :)

FWIW, I'll take a Padron '26 over an OpusX or any Habano any day. :ss

IMO, and experience, I have found many, many cigars, both CC and NC, that are not only much better than Opus, but much cheaper and easier to acquire.

Go into every cigar experience with an open mind and no preconceived notions. You will be (happily) surprised to find that many of your favorites will be inexpensive sticks (even NC's), while a great deal of 'super-premiums' will get filed under "dog-rockets" (even CC's).

It doesn't necessarily take the best to top an Opus X.
There are many cc's I find much better than an Opus... Monte #2... HdM Epi #2.....
Don't get me wrong, the Opus are a great smoke, but many habanos have them beat hands down.:2

I dont want to single you out, but this seems like an example of the unrealistic expectations that people put on the Opus line.

I'm not sure if it is the perceived 'exclusivity' caused by price or demand, but it seems like a lot of people smoke these with the preconceived notion that it will be the "best" cigar they've had. Putting that sort of expectation does little to give the stick a fair shake.

Have to agree. Fuente puts alot of cigars like the Opus, God of Fire, Anejo & Casa Fuente, in the limited production, hard to find and very expensive catagories. The marketing machine and limited distribation creates a very heighten expectation these are window to heaven and folks pay big bucks for them. While they are a great cigars, they do not match the hype, expectation and pricing.

I would chose one of my favorite habanos over the Opus for both performance and value.

Hope the Tigers turn it around. Lived south of D-town and they are awful for what I was hoping for this season. Go Wings & Pistons.

Interesting point. I feel the same way with a lot of Habanos (Cohiba).

Saying "any habano" makes this a bizarre thread, imo.

There is an extremely wide range of cuban cigar quality. Some match up equal or better, obviously, and some are inferior.

Not sure this will yield the type of results your'e looking for

Exactly my thoughts as well. There are many Habanos that I don't even care for that much; therefore, it all depends on the specific smoke.

An aged opus can be a fantastic cigar but there is no way that they can stand up to the whole of cigars from the finest cigar making country in the world.

The fact that they are more expensive than almost any cuban cigar you can buy puts them at an overwhelming disadvantage... and thats before you even smoke them.

Many would say that Cubans are over-rated, I'm not one of them. In fact, I would submit to the the contrary. I believe the OPUS line to be the most over-hyped and over-rated cigar made. Just my :2

Simply because there are so many to choose from, I'll take an ISOM. Don't get me wrong, I love Opuses, but I love me some Bolis, RyJ's, and Cohibas.

CC's depends I dont like= monte, cohiba, fonseca, JL. RYJ was acceptable but not great.
Very good CC's for me were pretty much every Boli, RASS, PSD4, EPI2.
As to the ones I dont like I have had many conversations with people in chat and in person who agree that some of these CC's are all hype and suck but no one wants to publicly say the emperor has no clothes.

Of the good CC's I would take most over an Opus as I am not a big Opus guy. I think the Opus is a lot of hype over a above average cigar. Its good but not that good. Would take an Anejo over an Opus anyday and over a few CC's I like. Would definetly take a PAM26 over a few as well.

Much of the CC stuff seems to me to be a little hype also. I have had a large number of poorly constructed CC's in the few months I have been smoking them. Almost everyone from an authorized habanos dealer that people here use. Some with long stems 2 inches, many PC's horribly plugged to the point of being unsmokable. These were brands that people pine over as well. When I see these things mentioned they are often ignored by the die hard CC fans or just chalk it up to the stick needing age. I clearly see a quality control issue in CC's. If you want to play with the little sticks expect to get some crappy ones. The big sticks IE 48 or 50 RG are more pricey but have fewer issues. I pretty much wont buy PC's anymore as they are to hit and miss.

In the end smoke what you like. Who cares if the CC worshipers think you are a noob for smoking a NC or dare I say a gurkha. Its your friggin money find what you like a burn that pig
