G.Mans Cigar Band Project/s

Guitarman-S.T-

...Got Metal?
Well sitting at my new home, my new schooling hasn't really started yet but when it does in my off time i really need something to do. Finally those bands ive been saving come into play>
So far i'm thinking of the basic Humidor etc, possibly something that be framed on the wall etc, but Le Resistance! consists of ( And don't be tak'n my idea ;) ) My X-box 360 Faceplate! OR hell even the top of my Laptop.
the thing is what should i use to secure them to which ever surface?
if it would change from the gloss finish on my humidor or the plastic on on laptop or a faceplate. As well as a sort of sealant to go on top of these to make sure they are held well and wont obstruct or peel off.

Thanks for the help. i know there are many of these threads flowing around but i finally thought id give it a try, And if anyone DOES have any extra bands on hand they don't need, please pm me, along with a few sticks you may want in return, and for a bonus ill be sure to Leave some PIC'ture P*** which you ape's just seem to eat up just as much as your Bunch's of Banana's :mn
Thanks again guys, this should be a blast, and if i make a few things extra i surely wouldn't mind doing a silent auction to try and raise some money for CS.

for tools so far i have some glue sticks... X-acto blade, is this good for a start?
still wasn't 100% on what to use to firstly secure them to the surface-

Well, for a sealent, there is a 2 part mix...plastic urethane that they use on bar tops. you can make it as thick as you want and still see through it.
As for securing them down first...what about a glue stick...rollon type, till you finish coat.

will do-
And is there a name brand or specific type of sealant i should be looking for, for that finish coat?
thanks alot Ye' Old Sailor

here she blows!

Enjoy -

Amazing piece of work, Guitarman! At first I wasn't too sure on how it'd turn out, but seeing the end results squashed any of the doubts! So did you seal the faceplate so the bands won't come off like it was mentioned in the previous posts (the plastic sealant)?

yes sir!
Just a shellac spray coat was good enough for the job, just a lot of short sprays evened it out well enough, i could do a polyurethane but that is just more work etc. This should work fine =]
As i said if anyone else is interested in one just PM me, i would love working on a new project if someone has a faceplate and a few main bands they want contributed

You sir might have yourself a deal. First I gotta get myself a spare faceplate, then you're on. :D About how many bands did it take to cover the front of the faceplate?

Simply more than you would think knowing i have every single part coated in the front, alot of doubling so it looks professional only thing not coated is the controller things and around the power button, i have the diablo band in the circle cause when it lights up at start it looks pretty nifty ;)
I have alot of bands but if you have a few that you want "Highlited" thats a must and certain brands you want me to 100% avoid haha
other wise 100% acid is in order :bl

Didn't see this when you posted yesterday, but that looks really neat... I wasn't sure how it would turn out when you first mentioned it. Did you take any pics of the process? Would like to see more of the various stages if you have 'em
