I picked up a box of these from CI two weeks ago and Ive been waiting for the right afternoon to burn one. Last week the sun came out and it was in the lower 60s so I said what the hell.
1st thing I notice is the wrapper is a little on the ugly side. Splotchy and mottled with a few little tears
Good pre-light smell, nice spicy tobacco. Already smacking my lips this is going to be good! Got my unsweet iced tea cutter and blazer at the stand by!
Like a big dork I got a little over zealous with the cutter and lopped off 1/4 of and inch of cap. What I get for not taking my meds ...
Ah hell, over 20 bucks a stick and I ham handed the cut. Not a good start to a 1st date with the most spendy stick Ive smoked to date.
No way Im going to let a sloppy cut ruin my 1st GoF so I march on!
Pre light draw is perfect. Just what I would expect from a AF.
I grab my blazer I got from the GB a few weeks ago and let it burn!
Nice clean light sharp as a razor.
1st draw is nice , loads of creamy white smoke with a mild flavor and a touch of spice.
And as you can see the wrapper tore where over cut the cap. Minor nuisance only, still smoked great.
This is where the rubber meets the road. I was a little surprised, this was a very mild bodied cigar. The flavor stayed rock solid from light to nub. And this sucker took almost 2 hours to burn! It was creamy with loads of thick white smoke. A touch of spice at the back of the throat with hints, and Im not making this up, bourbon! I would swear I could taste bourbon.
The ash was a testament to the AF cigar building skillz. Ill bet my kid could have use the ash as a tball bat.
Anyhow this was a good cigar right up till it wasn't. I stood up near the end to brush ash off my shirt and I found out it was strong as hell! This puppy knocked me on my ass. Im no quitter but I know when Ive had enough and with about 1.5 inches left I said good bye to my 1st GoF.
I enjoyed this smoke. I liked it a lot, but I think next time Ill spend the 250 bucks on 2 boxes of Pepin Blacks.
thanks for reading
