Good budget cigars?

Hey all, I recently gained interest in cigars and read through alot of the other posts for recommendations and found that Oliva O and G and Gurkha master select are good budget smokes. Anyways, what else would you recommend for a low budget so I can sample a few good brands? I was looking to get a sampler and humidor in the upcoming weeks also and am shopping around online, so far I like these:

although some people have said not to order from Thompson, any tips would be much appreciated.

thx

Ummm, what is a good budget cigar sorta depends on your budget :) the devil site makes a lot of sticks affordable if you keep your emotions out of the bidding. For me I have to stay at the $6 - $7 or less at the B&M :( but get the same sticks as much as 40% off at cbid. In the $4 - $6 range, in the medium to a little less strengeth I like the following

H. Uppman Vintage Cameroon
R&J en Tubo Churchhill
Punch Royal Coronation
Don Thomas Classico

All are consistant solid, good, affordable sticks.

Stay away from Thompson unless you want unsolicited calls for the rest of your life.

Sancho Panza, Maria Mancinni and LVH Cuban Corojo are just a few I would suggest.

Indian Tabac Corojo is another good low-cost smoke. My favorite of the low-buck ones is the Oliva Serie G, which has already been suggested.

I ordered from them once. After I placed the order - even before it arrived - they started calling the house on a daily basis, and this went on for about three weeks. Even now they call two or three times a week (it has been more than two months since I placed my only order). Of course, they don't seem to be smart enough to figure out that some people work, so I only know this from checking the caller ID when I get home.

well I am mainly interested in their two samplers mega and powerhouse 16 which seem to be a decent mix. I have not really found any other good samplers of various brands aside from the CI one. Were the cigars that you guys ordered from thompson fine at least?

I'm sure the cigars are fine. It's the "customer service" that is crazy overkill. You can always change your phone number. :D

Welcome to CS!

There are much better places to order from than Thompson that don't give you the hassle. Just do a search and you will find a number of places. CI, Holt's among others.

You could always go for the herfers delight at www.holts.com
I think it's $95. There are also the five packs at CI that are good to try don't forget the free shipping if you order from CI. Here's the link for that.
www.CigarsIntl.com/FREEPM3 good until the 6th if I remember correctly. CI is your best bet. Hope this helps and welcome to Clubstogie.

Forgot to mention Rob at Taboo also has some small humidors for pretty good prices and he also has a great cigar sampler. Check out the retail section on here for what deals are now going on at Taboo.

Here are couple more, of many, I found are a decent cigar for the price; Gispert, less than $2, and La Gloria Cubana, little over $2. :ss

I found it sort of funny as I reflected back on what I used to consider budget cigars and what I do now. My first year of smoking, I used to think of $4-5 cigars as special occasion cigars while now, they tend to be the least expensive that I have in my humi. I don't mean to come across as a cigar snob, it's just that my tastes have evolved (unfortunately for my wallet). I wish the bundles that I used to buy still did it for me. At any rate, I'm always in search for a less expensive cigar that will still satisfy my palate so that I'm not spending a boat load every week on cigars, it's just that I don't often find it.

Onyx Reserve
Helix
St Louis Rey Reserva
Ramon Allones Gusto
Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte
Nestor Reserve Maduro

These were the some of my first box purchases and they are all wonderful budget cigars.

I just wish I still smoked all of these instead of the $7 a stick cigar I smoke now. If gas keeps going up I think I will move back to these awesome cigars that are the best bang for your buck

Two of my favorites Gispert and La Gloria. I also like the Dominican 4000 Churchill, retail for $1.60 each in bundles of 25 and you can pick them up for a lot less on auction.

Not to give Thompsons the least credit, but I must be one of the few who complained about them so much that they decided to stay away. I complained about their web site link problems, order process, lies regarding email reply and product delivery time and refund processing time. Guess I scared them off but good, knock wood.

The everlasting search for good to great cheap sticks is part of the journey and it's all about the journey.

Perdomo Fresco Maduros are a wonderful cigar. A bungle of 25 costs about $45. It is one of my favorite maduros.:tu
