Guilty pleasure of and evolving Newbie

Young Ape
So Ive noticed that quite a few BOTL dont care for flavored sticks but last night at my LB&M I had to see what all the fuss was about and picked up a few along with some normals

2 x Oliva V's
2 x Cohiba (not sure what kind but small and maduro)
2 x Perdomo Lot 23's
2 x Diablo Picantes

and for the flavors

1 x Acid Blonde
1 x Drew Estates Java Latte
1 x Drew Estates Natural Dirt

Now as many of you may or may not know I am pretty new to smoking and I ve only been doing so for a little over a month but thus far Ive strayed away from the flavors and stuck with the others. After trying quite a few sticks I am now able to tell subtle diffrences between non flavored sticks and begin to pick up on diffrent flavors and such. Having said that once I tried my first flavored stick, the blonde, I honestly enjoyed it but It was almost like a dessert more than anything. I cant see myself smoking these things regularly but I definitely wont stray away from them. All in all I would have to say that if you have a sweet tooth and you are in the mood to have a smoke go for it :tu

I dont mind flavored cigars, but I find the Acids to be a bit TOO aromatic. CAO flavored Karmasutra Splash was decent and I kept a few on hand for my wife and non-smokers, or if I was going to be in a public place as it is a non-offensive sweet smoke.

Last month I tried a Tabak Especial Dulce by Drew Estates (coffee flavored). It was fantastic. It wasnt Acid like overpowering, but rather very slight with a wonderful aroma. It does have a sweetened tip, but it fades pretty quickly.

If I smoke something flavored, I smoke a Java by Drew Estate/Rocky Patel.

I love those V's and the Lot 23's too. Both are close to my favorite sticks.

Some of the Drew Estate offerings are a little too sweet, but the new Tabak Especial is actually pretty damn good. Im by no means a flavored type of guy, but every once in a while they are not bad. To each his own, smoke what you like, not what everyone else likes.

*walks in room, shuffling feet, head down, looking ashamed*

I love the dirt.

*walks back out, head still down*

Just make sure when you store those cigars that you keep the flavored cigars away from the regular cigars. It will taint them.

Smoke what you like otherwise you are smoking for other peoples enjoyment and not your own=worthless.

I keep a bunch of flavored cigars around. The Karmasutra Splash is always a hit with the ladies and they like the Eileen's dream, too.
I keep Java's, Kahlua's, Moontrance, Honey Golds, Earth Nectars and Isla Del Sols among others. All the CAO Flavours line is nice.
I had an Acid Wafe a few months ago, picked it up at a B&M in Pittsburgh. Fired it up on the way home in the car and really forced myself to hang in with it. It was awful. Like smoking Funeral Home perfume. Kerri complained about how awful it was and asked me to please get it the hell out of the car. The first and only time she's ever complained about the smell of a cigar. She normally tries all my smokes. She didn't ask to try the Wafe. :r
It stands as one of the worst cigars I've ever had. :tu

I've never tried a flavored cigar and I've been wanting to try one.

If I can pretend to gain any insight to the flavor based on the names, I think I'll start with a Java.

Any recommendations for a flavored stick that isn't fruity? Maybe something instead that's chocolate, coffee, or another non-fruity flavor.

With the names they give these flavored sticks I certainly can't figure it out.

My wife likes the chocolate flavored Dominican Sweeties.

To each his own...

I don't go near the Acids. I have a Kuba Kuba Deluxe in a tube that I will open and the perfume/botanical smells always cause me to put it back. Maybe one day. *shrugs*
But I do like the java waffe every once in a while. I imagine the Latte version to be pretty good as well. Nice morning smoke.

Definitely love the Oliva V's! I haven't had much luck with the Lot23's. I had one "maduro" stain my fingers, but both that I had were bland. I may have to give these a try again. Just to see.

:tpd: Absolutely right.

My wife first started on Acid blondies and then moved on to Drew Estates'/Natural's "Jucy Lucy". She (and I) really like them. I prefer non-flavored cigars but I'll have a drag of hers.

I was recently gifted an Acid Atom Maduro by a friend.
I was quite reluctant to smoke it, after hearing everything negative in this board about Acids.
I also didn't want it hanging around with the rest of my smokes in the humi.
So I torched it the day after I received it.
Surprisingly, it wasn't half bad, more herb-like in character than sweet.
I would actually buy another one at some point in the future.
Don't let this "contempt prior to investigation" mindset sway your opinion before you try something.
That might cause you to miss out on something tasty.
As Icehog3 said, "smoke what you like, linke what you smoke".
Only person it has to make happy is you (and the SO can't think it smells crappy).

No Problem bro I bought a 20ct humi specifically for flavored sticks. All the others end up in my new cooler :tu

I have had a Blondie by Drew Estates as well. But I'm with you, I thought the flavor was a bit too much for me.
