Gurkha Cigar Question

Let us not forget the Gurkha Grand Reserve

The Doble Maduro is also a pretty good smoke. I find the Gurhka's that I've had are all tasty, but kind of one dimensional. Anyone else have that same perspective?

All of the Gurhka's I've had were good at the right price.

I smoked one awhile back, and although I really enjoyed it I couldn't really tell the difference (flavor wise) between the Grand Reserve and others like say the Legend. Can you?

I can definitely tell a difference. The flavor and aroma of the Grand Reserve is very distinct.

The class regent is the cigar that got me hooked on Gurkhas and is a delicious stick. If you like cammies, give the Class Regent Nepalese Warrior a try.

I have tried Gurkhas that I felt were overpriced. I would suggest useing this as an opportunity to do some sampling and then buy what you like off cbid.

Hey everyone,

Our local cigar store is having a Gurkha event this Thursday, and I wanted a few opinions on which Gurkha's I should try. Gurkha reps will be present, so they should have most of their products available. I have tried the Master Select Robusto #4 and the G3. I really enjoyed the Master Select, but I thought the G3 was a little strong for my taste, as I am still fairly new to heavier cigars. Anyway, I love trying new cigars from mild to strong, and wondered which Gurkha's are your favorites? Also, anyone tried the Beast, the Genghis Khan, or the Warlord?

Thanks in advance:cb

Try the following:

Gold edition - an excellent cigar
G3 - I have never had one but I hear they are excellent
Centurion XX - if you can get em cheaper than 20 bucks apiece go for it, they are good
Master select are good also
Regent is one of their best
The legend is also very tasty

I have had the Genghis Kahn and while it is okay, the ones I listed above are better.

Thanks for all the advice. I am really looking forward to the event. It should be a lot of fun. After it is over, I will post a review of what all happened and which cigars I smoked and purchased.:cb

Sounds good. Let me know when you send off my package of Grand Reserves so can keep an eye out for them. :D

for a fuller bodied smoke, I like the Class Regent toro,
for some thing milder, try the Symphony #4,
for me the best one yet is the Legend Perfecto.
Smoked one of the G. K.'s, not sure about that one yet...

I must say that all the Gurkhas I've smoked have been great. The Regent and Double Maduro are awesome and the Expedition is great for a milder cigar. I've got some Gold Collector's Edition resting now as well.

:tpd: , sorta--only had a couple that I'd consider buying again even if the price came down. That said, if I were at a Gurkha event, I'd whore it up and try to escape with as many freebies as I could.

Like CAO, they seem to be focusing as much or more on marketing/ packaging as they are on the quality of the product itself. The CAO Vision seems like a highly-polished turd. But hey, it'll match your Ipod docking station flawlessly :D

At the end of the day they're not a 'bad' cigar. Just overpriced and overhyped. The HMR says it all. For me, marketing and cigars don't mix. I know a little will always exist (even with Cubans)... but give me a plain cardboard box with a great cigar anyday!!
I had the Centurion XX a couple days ago and would have another.... creamy.
