Heaven found in Allegheny

So Mr. Ed and I just came back from heaven. Heaven's real name is Allegheny Smokeworks which is 5 minutes outside of downtown Pittsburgh :ss

I've got to tell you guys, the guys here really knew their stuff. And the guy that showed us around, Mike, was exceptional. Never had I been in a place that was as inviting as Allegheny. The selection was incredible, I don't think they were missing anything that have ever wanted, and had stuff I had never heard of. They had a couple boxes of Opus's in stock and Don Pepin's My Father in stock which was pretty cool. The general atmosphere was very calm there, no pressures at all. They also have a pipes section there, and if it's your first time with the pipe, they try not just let you leave after you make your purchase, they always ask if you've got some time to stay so they can teach you the ropes. As a young guy, I've been given the cold shoulder more than once in cigar shops, but not here. They're having a herf on Friday I think, introducing some cigars on the house, and showing around the new 86 line from macanudo. So I'm pretty excited about that.

But yeah anyone coming through Pitt, this place is a must see, you'll like this place 20 times better than Bloom's

Most excellent review. Sounds like the type of place that everyone would like to have close to them (or maybe it's just me :D)

Might want to ask a mod about moving this over to the by state category so people can find it that way as well.

I always hear about them on the "Blowing Smoke" podcast. Can't wait to make my way back to Pittsburgh as that is a great town. Will definitely have to put ASW on my list of things to do.

Yes, this was a great place, indeed. Lots of DPG stuff all the way around, great selection, the staff was very friendly.

yes, i would say it is the best shop in Pittsburgh. Poor Richards also has a great selection but price and parking are a biotch, plus no smoking.
