Houston Herf- This is what CS is all about!

TechMetalMan

Sloth Smoker
Is this cliche around here? Maybe. Is it the truth? Absolutely.

So tonight Ricky (12Stones), Chris (Cigar No Baka), and Leo (Puro Angler)-hope I got names right, I'm terrible with them so sorry if I messed up :hn - and myself met up at Serious Cigars.

My friend mark joined us for a bit as well.

Just a bunch of great guys talking and relaxing. Ricky and I were the first ones, then Chris arrived, and then Leo met up a little later. Chris left to get some rest- but not before gifting cigars to all of us. I recieved an Oliva Master Series (which I smoked and was DELICIOUS- thanks!!) and an Avo Domaine- can't thank you enough man.

So Ricky, Leo and I sat around until 930 (one of the part owners was there and kept the place open late as he had some buddies there- actually the place was packed and loud!) before Ricky and Leo wanted to get food. Well I had no cash, I only brought three bucks with me, but Ricky and Leo insist that I join them and that they would take care of me. I have learned not to refuse offers- well now I have anyway- and finally agreed.

So we went to TGI Fridays and sat at the bar and ate and (they) drank and shared a few stories (Ricky's were tops!).

Just a great night!

I really needed it as I've been going through some personal issues and have had some stress built up recently- that definently helped to have good food, fun conversation, and great smokes.

Thanks guys and I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! :w

Absolutely right. What a great way to break my cigar drought. Thanks for making my stay in Houston even better guys, hope to do this again soon. Chris, thanks again for the Virtuoso. I plan on smoking it at a Halloween party on Saturday...if I can wait that long, lol. ;)

That's what I love most about this place. Cigars aren't just for smoking by yourself, they're for sharing with friends, and having a good time! I'm glad you had such an awesome time, Trent!!!!!

Man, i wish i wasn't so bogged down with work. Being an engineering student leaves me hardly any time. I'm lucky if i can squeeze in an hour or two a night for a stogie. I'm really gonna try to make it next time

I have the same problem; School in the morning and work all night. I'm only free 2 nights a week. One is reserved for band practice and the other is "date night" with my lady so I don't know when the hell I'll get to join you guys.

Oh wait! My parents are going to vegas in 2 weeks (7th-10th) and so naturally I'll be coming out to the northside to defile the hottub and eat all their food. They live 5 minutes from serious cigars. :w

Definitely another great herf for the Houstonians. We're gonna make this a more regular event and pick it up where it used to be.

I started out with a DC Max Robusto (my first) and wasn't too impressed for all the hype, but it was decent. Then smoke an Olivas Series S gifted by Chris which I much enjoyed.

There was great conversation with some great gorillas. I got to tell some of my classic Marine Corps stories to people who already haven't heard them over and over and over again, and had some good laughs over them. Glad everyone could make it out. Leo's only in town for a little while so we'll have to get together a few more times before he heads back down south.

Sounds like yall had a great time Trent. Wish it wasnt so far for me, or Id join yall...I usually only can get over there in the early daytime :c

Sounds like you guys had a blast!

I was sorry not to be able to make it. Last night was my last opportunity to go shopping for a birthday gift. The Galleria on a weekday evening is quite an experience. I called my buddy who works over there in the Williams Tower and we got together for an impromptu drink & smoke in the Fox Sports Bar, which was also a bit of a novelty for me. The Fox Sports Bar might be a good spot for a herf, cigars are definitely encouraged, but the prices are kind of high: $31 for two pints of Guinness and two Tanqueray & tonics not including the tip.

Ah, that's okay, we don't allow Redskins fans anyway :tg

:D

Maybe we'll get a saturday afternoon one goin' or something. I work on saturdays but maybe I can get one off or re-arrange my schedule. If not, there's gotta be a way to make it down for one at some point- we plan to make this a more regular/larger get together now!

Nicholas- at least you got to grab a cigar and drink anyway, sounds like you had a good time as well! What'd ya smoke?

Hmmmmmm no Skins fan huh....sounds like a threat.....maybe I'll have to bomb you into submission for that statement :sl :D :r

I'll have to let you know in advance when I get over during a day and see if we can meet up.

My buddy gifted me a fresh El Principe which smoked very nicely indeed and lasted me through two pints of Guinness.

A San Cristobal? Sounds good!

Sounds like a threat??! I didn't mean it I swear! Come on man! I live with my parents still- how would you feel if you orphaned me?

The dumbest little comments can get you in trouble here- looks like I will be delegating more sticks to my friends Humi to make room for the mass destruction to come...

Yeah, just let me know say, 5 days ahead of time or so. :w

:r Ahhh it wont be too bad.....I'll just drop it by your car....you need a new one anyways after the flood right? :D
Help ya out with the insurance company and all.....surely after a flood, a bomb and being orphaned they'll cut you a good deal :r

Sounds like y'all had a great time, sorry that I missed it.

That's a bit of a drive for me to try to make on a weekday but I would love to try and get together with everybody on a weekend some time.

First off, I had a great time. Nice to meet Trent and his friend Mark, and Leo as well.

Serious Cigars is pretty impressive for its size and enormous selection of cigars. They have a nice herfin room, seven leather chairs plus big screen TV. Lots of folks who seemed to be regulars showed up and the place got pretty raucous. Anyone else think that some of the regulars were wondering who those guys were taking up their chairs? :hn

Happy to hand out some smokes, those are some of my favorites so I like to spread the love. I'm not quite into bombing yet, but if I ever do, I will make the ground move, the earth shake and the weak tremble and pay homage.

Looking forward to meeting all of you again at 10 Downing Street, and hopefully more of you can make it over this time.

I believe it!!!!

Yeah, I had the same feeling about some of the "regulars". A bunch of raunchy old men :r

Sounds like you guys had a blast. I stopped by Serious on Tuesday. Great place, I had a really nice Graycliff. I wished I had been able to come on Wednesday, but the people from my conference wanted to get a bite to eat. I did convince a few to go out after dinner. We had a couple drinks and cigars at Sullivans'. Thanks again for the recommendations.

Brian

Man I wish I wouldn't have been so caught up playing that damn Golden Tee machine and introduced myself around. I was there fairly early, bought a couple Graycliffe robustos and smoked the perfecto that they handed me as I walked in the door.

There was a guy playing Golden Tee and he and I had a couple games with a couple cigars, the place really was starting to fill up when I had to leave for a monthly poker game.

Great place to hang out, hope they get their liquor license soon and turn it into a nice cigar lounge much needed in our part of town.

Catch you all next time...Dave
