How do I ship to my cousin in Australia

I have a cousin that lives there and would love to send him a care package but have never shipped internationally.
Are there restrictions? and how to package best?

Lets put it this way...

One day a few years back I ordered a box of cigars from vendor X down under. I was shipped the wrong cigars. I called him and asked what the heck happened? He laughed and said not to worry, the correct box would be shipped the next day. I asked if I should ship back the incorrect box back to him & he without pause said "HELL NO, the duty would exceed the cost of the cigars so badly its not worth the trouble!" I asked, okay, so what so I do? He said keep em. I offered to pay for them (very nice VR Unicos), but he refused saying it was his mistake, not mine.

True story.

You have all been very helpful coming from folks who have been there done that!!! I appreciate it,
My cousin enjoyed his time here very much and will be in country until Aug but wow.. it is so expensive for him to get them. I will follow along some of the suggestions made by you folks, Thanks again in advance!

I forgt to mention.

As for packaging them, usually it pays to pack them in really tight with a lot of bubble wrap etc, as aussie customs arent exactly gentle.

when i ship international i like to bag them up, wrap them tight in bubble wrap or something similar, and the fill up the rest of the space with more packaging so as to try and prevent movement.

Good Luck!

James
