I usually use a Blazer scuba tank torch. It works great in the wind and can easily toast the foot of a cigar. Sometimes I will use matches if I forget the lighter but I don't like the sulfer taste you get once in a while.

JDO (jason?), When you light it up with a match, an essential practice that I've learned is to let the match burn for a second before bringing towards the foot for the twirl and burn. This is suppost to burn off the chemicals that affect the cigars flavor. I've also been told that you should absolutely not use paper matches, but rather wooden ones. All the cigar stores I've been to give out wooden matches, while the cigarette outlets with humidors (in my experience, the WORST place to buy smokes from) give out paper matches, which only worsens there already terrible cigars.

How big is this scuba tank torch? I picture a big arse oxygen tank type thing.. I wonder if I can use my MAPP torch I use for working with glass (I need to practice glass working more, its a great hobby but I just dont have the time..)

99% of the time a Bic. On rare occasions a splinter of cedar. I'm a gadget nut and would love a Dupont, however I budget for sticks and not the $800.00, shiny, gold, "ping" producing, extravagance. Hmm...perhaps from my wife at x-mas, yes? :r

I use a torch almost exclusively, if i am at the local cigar lounge i will use matches occasionally.

I just picked up a Nibo torch lighter this afternoon from my local shop. I was sick of screwing up my cigars trying to light them with matches. I'll let everyone know how it works after I try it out a few times.

My favorite is the wooden matches, now. I also got a nice standard flame lighter that is great when the matches are not around. I now have moved my torch lighters down the ladder on my lighter hierarchy. (this is sick, I cannot believe I have a lighter hierarchy!)

Torch lighters for me unless I get desperate then I go for anything that will light it. Especially true nowadays as I can't take the torch on business trips. I am at the mercy of the hotels so almost always I end up with matches.

If you're outside and its windy, you almost need a torch lighter. A regular lighter or matches are just not going to cut it.

Got about 8 or 9 lighters, from torch to open flame, all Colibri, except for one I got in Germany.

Grinch OUT!!!

I use a zippo. See me here using one.

Torch..Like alot of you guys I've got a drawer full of em...Mostly non functional Colibris :r Also have a couple Prometheus lighters that work most of the time but the most dependable lighter I own is a cheap $9.95 AGI Pocket Torch that I've had a little over 2yrs...go figure?

Edited to add that I also have a couple Nibbos that are hit or miss :D

I use a torch at home and whatever I can get my hands on when travelling. I think that the torch gives me a better light than matches or open flame lighter.

I have used an assortment of lighters over the years, but recently bought a Colibri Triplex three-flame lighter. I'm never going back to a lesser denizen of the lighter jungle.

I use my Nibo triple torch. Works Ok. I would like a better one though, one that isn't too expensive.
