How long does it take you to choose a cigar?

D, half the fun for me is the "fondle." I don't have enough of one type of cigar to keep them in their own boxes. As a result, I have a mish mash of sticks in boxes that may or may not have anything to do with the marca. For example, I have a bunch of different Fuentes in an Ashton box and a variety of different Pepin blends in an Opus X box. I love going through the boxes and just looking for something. I found a long forgotten Illusione 88 in an old Partagas box. You'd thought it was Christmas the way I reacted.

I remember that day, it was 12/25/07!

It was Christmas ya asshat!!!!

Sure feels like Monday!!!! :ss

I go in with something in mind, then choose something completely different. I usually pick something from the top, so it doesn't take long. I know I do this, so I move things around a lot so the same thing isn't always on top.

I let them choose who will be the next sacrifice to the giant who must be appeased. One must die so that the others will be safe for a little longer. It is a cruel thing but as an evil overlord I have a code to live by.

What are you trying to say?

I'm offended. IMO, I'm a very eclectic cigar smoker. I have 1 Padron 3000, 1 AVO 80th, 2 Don Carlos's, 1/2 a box of Camacho's, 2 boxes of Grand Habano's, 2 boxes of Padilla Habano's, and a TON of CFO #7 Reserva's. It's not my problem that most cigars taste like a$$.

Again, I'm offended. I may actually cry...:ss

Well, when your choices are Pepin, or Pepin, it can't be that hard :ss

I either have an idea as to wanting something mild-medium or full-out "bold" and grab one out that I can't remember smoking in some time - another option is to read the ongoing thread "What are you smoking right now" and see some of the last posts and match that with one I have as an idea.

:ss :ss Well, anything you decide you don't like anymore, you know where to get rid of it :D :D :D

Usually go for the new purchases or something I have not tried.

Have all the cigars listed in a spreadsheet and make a decision from that.

If I am going to find something that suits my mood it could take awhile but I pretty much have a select few to go to in this case.

Sometimes I will just go through the stock and pick around until I find something that peaks my interest.

It took me alot longer to read this thread then it usually takes me. Sometimes though I will think about a stick all day and then when I get a chance to smoke it I change my mind and have something different.

I'm all over the map, sometimes 5 seconds, and sometimes 10 minutes. :)

That is me for sure Tom!!!

Other gorillas gave me more to think about such as size and length of time I want to spend smoking!!! Thanks a bunch!!!:sl

Good question....I have a dry box going with about 6ish sticks at any time. I try to anticipate what I would like to smoke during the week and, when the the mood hits, I open it up and select the one that I want.

Since Shilala sent me that sweet homemade humi I have started dry boxing!!! Great idea!!!

Engineer answer - 30.652+/-0.295 seconds - I will post the run chart, control charts, and histogram later on. :ss

Lawyer answer - Please define the terms "long", "take", "choose", "cigar", and "collection" - that will be $500. Also as far as your condition; I believe there is a lot of money available for those who suffer from Cigarachoosaphobia (aka CCP). Please contact us so we can discuss your condition.

I don't have time for this!!! I have to find a cigar to smoke today!!!:r

Okay for me literally hours...it starts in the morning when I think I wouldn't mind a smoke with my coffee. Then I browse the vino looking for one that will fit. Find one that will be a good lunch smoke. Finally after about 10-15 minutes of sorting through I find another smoke that will be good for after dinner. About this time the dog needs out, or the little one is crying. So the Morning smoke was never chosen or smoked. Lunch time hits and I totaly forget I had a smoke lined up. Then its after dinner and all day I have been debating wich one to smoke. I pull out one cut and prep, then change my mind just before the lite. OH the decisions. So there it is my name is Jason and I suffer from Cigarachoosaphobia.

Hi Jason! I think you and I must be brothers for another mother!!! This is me to a tee!!!:tu

Nice to know I'm not alone!!!:ss

My choice is often defined by what I have or have not eaten. Big meals means heftier sticks.

Although, I've been finding it odd which cigars sneak up on me. Illusione MKs are supposed to be the strongest of their sticks, but I get a bigger nic hit from the 88. I think it's time to try the f9.

Usually only a couple of minutes, but I as my collection increases, I definitely have more choices to consider. Also, I like to look through the ones that I've gotten from BOTLs on CS, thinking over the wishes granted, trades completed, and passes that I've participated in. It's amazing how much of a cross section of ClubStogie is represented in my collection. No need to rush to select a cigar; my enjoyment starts when I open the Humi :tu

Out of my collection? Probaly 2 minutes. I only keep a 25ct humi. Now at the B&M takes me like 15mins if I'm rushing

I try and decide before opening the vino, then when I am grabbing stuff, I find myself second guessing all the time, depending on my time constraints.

Usually if I'm in the mood, i just know which one i want. Then again, I only have about 20 cigars, so it isn't that hard...
