how many at one sitting before no taste...

So to follow up with my other thread of how many per week do you average, which opened my eyes to the beauty of living where i can smoke in the winter(san diego), I wanted to ask how many do you guys go through in one sitting before it doesn't matter what you smoking, you just can't taste anything for the rest of the day/week...

with me it's around my 4th or 5th in a sitting, but it also really depends on the beverage im having. If i'm having an ipa or a scotch i will probably not taste anything past the 3rd smoke. If i have water or red wine, or tea, i can taste till about the 5th, then i'm saturated...and sandpapered

Try eating some dark chocolate between smokes! It will help clean the palatte and you'll get more of the cigar flavor from each of the smokes...regardless of the number.

Here's more info about the idea:

I try to stagger the strengh of my smokes throughout the day. For example, I'll have a 5 Vegas Gold or El Mejor Espresso with coffee in the morning and save the Taboo Boot Camps for later in the day. If I start off with a boot camp first thing all other smokes just run together.

a dark cocoa does clean your taste...dark chocolate...coffee....but uhh about 3/4 depending on the spiciness of it

I agree with that. I will make sure not to smoke something that leaves a lot of aftertaste too early in the evening, if I plan on having more than one.

normally i'll just do one per sitting...but then again, that will probably change as i fall down the slope

The most cigars that I have ever smoked in a day is 3. I don't know how you guys can go one after another after another. God bless ya.

It really depends on the cigars and the day in general. I have had 5 in a day and a couple were silly big 8 inch+ 50rg+ cigars but since they were mild to medium and spaced out some I could taste them to the end. I have also had one LfD knock my taste buds out so it really depends.

Really hard to say or to pick a number. To me when I am numb and feel no more I stop lighting cigars and continue to drink. That way I don't burn my face or smoke the wrong end or light the house on fire.

I have had one take taste from me and I have smoked 10 and was still going strong when the sun rose.:tu

No pat answer to that question

I don't think I've ever smoked more than 3 in a whole day. In one sitting, the most I ever smoke is 2, and that's a rare occurance. Any more than that just fries my mouth and I don't enjoy them.

One of the guys at the b&m said he smoked 12 cigars last Sat. night. Said that the nicotine and alcohol counter-acted each other. Woke up the next morning feeling great. :hn For myself I can probably get away with three spaced out over the day without losing my palate. Rarely do I have the time or desire to smoke that many cigars. This weekend I plan on looking like a chimney. A cigar in one hand and an adult beverage in the other. Breakfast of champions. :chk

Honestly, I have been told that smoking a cigar a day will likely not affect one's health. So, even tho I'm tempted, I stay at one per day. On rare occasion I've indulged in two, but not shotgun. Yes, health DOES figure into the equation for me!

Or, to put it another way: Single Malt- it's not just for breakfast anymore!:tu

This is one reason why herf smoking usually takes a bit of planning. Soft drinks with sugar will help to counteract some of the nicotine. Smoking slowly will keep the tastebuds from getting overheated and dull. At a usual herf 1pm-10pm I will usually smoke from 6-9 cigars. I try to bring a wide variety of flavors and strengths. Start of with a mild to medium build to the strongest just after dinner. Then cruise to the end with a few CC's or medium smokes. :2
