Humi keeping a constant 77 temp.

o, the humi right now is staying at a constant 77 temp. and 66 humid. Is the temp alittle to high? Ifso what can i do to cool her down? thanx for you help!yes, and normally id say move it to the basement, but being in socal you probably dont have one.

Ive heard of people wrapping towels around ice packs and placing that on top of their humi. I just dont think thats a practical long term solution. Like Darb said your best bet would be a wine cooler.
I would never do this. I would be afraid condensation might form.
also you may want to try moving down to the floor, as they say, Hot air rises. its worth a shot.
This is what I would suggest as I was able to drop the temp in my humidor about 7 degrees by doing this.

My humi temp was 73-80 degrees through almost the whole summer, at first I panicked lol.. but just accepted the fact I couldn't really do much that didn't require me buying a temp humi or running ac all day.
But didn't have any beetle problems, though definitely not "ideal" storing temps.

i keep the ac on at 72 and still had my humidor running 75+ degrees. i ended up purchasing a vinto temp and now i don't have to worry about it. i'm in FL and all summer long it doesn't matter how you run the AC. my advice would be to spend the 180$ on one. get some beads and you never have to worry again.
i forgot to mention i had a huge outbreak that almost cost me more than the investment of the vinotemp.

In South Florida, that is the norm temp for me (mid to high 70's).
Can't possibly go lower.
Can't afford it.
Electric bill is near $500 a month to keep the house around 76 to 77.
With tall 14' to 18' ceilings, that works out just fine.
Very comfortable.
However, humi runs around 77.
Right now, 77.2.
Cigars are all fine.
I keep them in their original boxes to contain any possible outbreak of those little boogers that sang "She loves you, yeah, yeah"/

I live in a dorm room... and things seem to be stabilized now. At the worst point, the RH was 82% and the temperature was 87%. I flipped a :BS. I moved the humidor down to the floor, put a fan on it, and closed the window. After turning what sad excuse we have for an A/C unit on... the temperature and RH gradually began coming down.
As I post this I realize how horrible and hellish it may sound. I don't think there is any permanent damage to my sticks. At any rate, I know how it feels to be in situations where climate control is not as easy as it sounds. :tg

My temp. is never below 77. Humidity is always 66 or 67.

I think the temp and humidity has to be just right for the little buggers to hatch...At least that is what the guy told me at a local B&M (Cigar Warehouse or something like that)

i'm still of fan of better safe than sorry. keeping your stogies in boxes will only go so far to protect an outbreak. the only thing i can say is when some of your cigars cost more than the cost of a vinotemp, is it really worth taking the risk of such high temps?
i lost almost 400$ worth of stogies this past summer because of the temp constantly being in the mid to high 70's range. it could have been more though and i would have been out thousands if they had gotten to the rest of the stash.
