I'd say do it if it feels right to you. If you can check it out before you buy it maybe check what the inside is made out of (maybe cedar?) and if doors make a tight seal and things like that.

even if it is made out of pine, at that price u could still afford to line it with SC and still come out ahead

I'd do some quick homework on it like others have suggested. You want to make sure the materials are good (Spanish Cedar) and the seal is good. Also, make sure it's mold free. Sometimes that can grow in the wood. If that all checks out then, the price of $275 is pretty good. One other thing to think about is whether you might need a temperature controlled cabinet. I assume you are located in Florida given that the ad says Orlando. Also you'll need humidification of sorts afterwards so figure another few hundred dollars (active humidification) for your budget.

looks like it could be a project, but if you have time and resources then it would be one sweet outcome

Hard to tell from the pix, but the 'stains' appear to be water damage at the bottom. If that is the case, I'd worry about mold. Otherwise, it looks like a nice box.

Boy, for some reason the thought 'you get what you pay for' came to mind.

Something like that I would always be wondering about the seal (not trying to be a downer, just my typical skepticism).

This is just my :2, but if I was going to invest in a cabinet of that size, I would save up and do it right the first time, have something I am going to cherish for decades (ie. Aristocrat).

That said, it might be a fun project to recondition, gives you a good frame to work with if you are into that kind of thing.

Go check it out if nothing else and let us know!

IMHO...I'd grab it.:)

I'd tear it down and rebuilt!:D

What is the humidification "device"?

I'd bring along a wet sponge in a plastic bag..."Wet" the wood and sniff.:D
