Humidor?

Hi! I would like to ask y'all what a good starting humidor would be. I want one that holds between 50-150. I am currently using a .50 cal ammo can because I am overseas in Afghanistan. Please give me some expert advice.

go big or go home is what i say. you will find that whatever you get will wind up being too small. i started off with a 50ct and am now at a smaller cabinet but waiting to get a cooled cabinet which will eventually go into my walk in. do you want a desk top or do you plan on buying boxes/bundles?
 
I started off with a 100 ct, and ended up getting another of the same size. Seem you can never fit 100 cigars in a 100 cigar humi though. A lot of it depends on how much you want to spend the questions in post above will help you choose. If you want to stay on the less expensive side, get a cooler and go from there.

I asked a similar question a while back and everyone said to go 3-4 x's larger than you think you need. I was looking in the 75 ct desktop range, and ended up going with a 200-250 ct desktop instead. Hope you find something you like. Stay safe over there.
 
IMHO Keep your camo box get someone to ship you some beads. When you get home pick up a cooler and a nice humidor. Log on and let people know you are home and you will get a lot of help filling up your humi's. These guys are great here and you deserve a big THANK YOU for defending our country.

Next, I agree with what everyone else has said. Go bigger than you think you will ever need. I didn't follow this advice a couple of times, and therefore, I am always on the lookout for another humi.

If you decide to go bigger than a desktop, I have a nice humidor for sale in the WTS forum going for a song. :D
 
I agree that the .50cal box is perfect for overseas. As the others have said, go big. It may look silly at first to have a cooler(60qt minimum) sitting there with a box and a couple of lone five packs. But soon enough you will be filling it with stuff from Cbid, JoeCigar and the other retailers. Also, its nice to have a desktop to show off your good stuff or your favorites. Minimum here is 150ct. Go big 300 or more if you really want to impress. Where to buy? NOT EBAY. Lousy products, cheap construction. You will find several retailers who post here that are great.

I'm a newb and I picked up a 100ct and it's full in about 2 months. I wish I had gone bigger. D@mn that cbid!

I don't have much advice other than what has been said here already. Thanks for your service and all that you do to keep us safe. Please come home safely.

Always get a bigger Humidor than you think you need, I started with a 150ct and within 2 weeks, bougth a 1500ct humi, its a addiction !

I'm not sure if you're looking to get one in Afghanistan (which might be difficult but I wouldn't rule it out) or whether if you want to get one when you go back home.

If you want one while you're stationed in Afghanistan PM me I might be able to help I live in Pakistan so its pretty close by.
