Hydra Electronic Humidifier

Yellow is the speed sensing. Its so your mainboard knows the fan is spinning else it gives an alert.

yup but some cpu heatsink fans are only 2 pin. i can get 80mm fans from new egg for like 3 bucks. i need to just not be lazy on my day off and go to a real shop.

i wanted a little more active humidification and some fans for my wine-o-door so that is why i purchased this unit over the cigar oasis.

over all i'd say it's a nice unit and for the money can't be beat.

now i just need to get a bigger cabinet.

The cigar oasis XL plus has fan option... just like this one... just wanted to say this didnt wanted people to think that CO doesnt have fans controls...
thx for the review.. enjoy your new product:tu

I just read this thread and decided to call Quality Importers (the manufacturer of the Hydra) to get his thought on this.

After discussions with the manufacturer, I believe we figured out what might be the problem.

There are three adjustments that can be made to the Hydra.

1 is a knob that adjusts the display and two buttons to adjust the humidity level up and down.

The knob is only for adjusting the reading on the display.

For instance, if you have a calibrated digital hygrometer that you know is 70% and the Hydra's display is reading 68%, you can turn the knob to adjust the Hydra's display to read 70%.

The up and down buttons are what adjusts how much the humidity the Hydra puts out and should be used for setting the humidity level.

When the knob for adjusting the display is turned all the way down (to the negative) this bypasses the humidity sensor causing the Hydra to think that it is out of water even when it is not which is what would cause the beeping.

I also found out that Quality Importers is working on a larger version of the Hydra that I imagine will regulate up to 16 cubic feet within the next month or so.

I guess in short, I wanted to find out if the knob is turned all the way down in one direction? If so, turning it to the center and adjust the humidity level with the buttons. This should take care of the sensor thinking it's out of water and stop the beeping.

I hope this helps.

I ran a hydra for a few months and was not very impressed. I like the adjustability but that was all really. The co has a fan option now and seems to be of better quality to me. I just installed the co extend (custom made tank by aristocrat Humidors!) and it moves up to six times the air flow! Super nice unit from bob at aristocrat using co technology! Check that put before you buy anything. Just my .02

Looks pretty jurry rigged/spliced from the picture on their page.

I have had a Hydra for almost 6 weeks now and I have given up on ever getting the display to read the actual RH. In order to get the actual RH to 65% I have to tell the Oasis to bring the RH up to about 83%. I have tried re-setting the unit and I've spoken with the manufacturer all to no avail. It seems to work fine otherwise (even though I should be running 2 units based on the volume of the cabinet), it's just a shame the digital readout is so off.
Hind site is 20/20 and I think the Avallo Accumonitor might have been a better buy for my application. Turns out that maybe I should have listened to the experts at top25cigar.com who said that "The Accumonitor humidification system takes care of your cigars like the head masseuse at a Four Seasons resort" and that its performance is "Amazing to say the least". :)r)
