Hygrometer with sensors in the back?

I'm looking for a digital hygrometer that has the sensors in the back or bottom (opposite side of digital read out). I would like to mount it in wood so the face is visible from outside the box but the sensors are inside the box. Anyone have one? What brand is it so I can check them out.

Thanks,
Chas

Can't help you with your question, but your project sounds very interesting. Custom Vino shelves?

good luck:tu

If you have any electronics experience you may be able to remove the lcd screen from a hygro and extend the ribbon cable that usually comes on these, but i have seen lcds that are right on the PCB board.

:D Yep, I'm building singles trays and want to be able to see what each tray is by just looking through the glass.

Check out elighters.com and look at the Visol Digital Hygrometer at $29.95. I remember being involved in the discussion about these and by all accounts, they worked out well.

I saw this one a Harbor Freight store the other day. Their tools aren't the greatest so I don't know how good this unit will be.

Target has these: http://www.target.com/Holmes-Digita...35656-1474568?ie=UTF8&rh=k:hygrometers&page=1

Again I can't attest to how good the Target version is. Both of these seem to be flat design for hanging outside in a garden/porch.

I was lucky enough to pick up 5 of this type design by a maker called LaCrosse from Woot.com about a year ago for $5.00 apiece. They were discontinued, but are very high quality, dead on accurate, and the flat design is perfect for cooladors. Long Battery life too - I haven't changed any in the time I have had them.

For your project I think the face of these designs might be just too big - especially the one from Target?

Good luck

Thanks guys :tu

There are few good options there that led me to look at this from a different angle. I would like to keep the trays about 3 inches or less in height so some of them will be too tall. But looking at some of them I wonder if I could take them out of the plastic cases and just mount them inside a square hole in the front of each tray. I could even put a small piece of acrylic in the trays face.

I think I will order a small one and tear it apart.
