I have been watching for a while and it seems to me that we have a lot of gorillas that spend quite a bit of time trying to find low cost smokes that are OK. Here's my thoughts on that subject - maybe because I'm getting older and stuff like that.

I think more people would choose to smoke better cigars less frequently than lower quality cigars more often. In other words - I like to smoke the best that I can get my hands on, even if that means only once in a while instead of buying a bundle of OK smokes that I can consume everyday.

What do you think?

:tpd:

I would rather smoke a good cigar less often than a cheap cigar that I dont like more often.

Cigar smoking is for me. I like it and enjoy it very much. Who better to spend good money on other than yourself.

You have a good theory. Cigar smoking in general is more about the enjoyment. Unlike cigarette smokers who do it for the nicotine and what have you. For gorillas like me who can't spend Klugslike amounts on cigars, we look for something cheap that we can buy and smoke while we save up for the goodies.

I'd kind of toss myself into the center. I have decent mid-priced smokes for daily consumption, and I have really nice, maybe a little pricey, smokes for once or twice a week.

Cheers!!

I would rather smoke only once a week and make it a good smoke, but I think part of the fun of this hobby is the search for that awesome $2-3 stick. Just something about finding a great, resonably priced cigar does it for me. Maybe I am just crazy, but I tend to get more enjoyment out of a good $3 smoke (i.e. Padron x000) than i do out of a very good $15 smoke. Somehting about knowing I didn't spend a fortune on the smoke makes it more enjoyable for me. But then again, I am a broke bastage, if I had the funds it would probably be Padron Annies and Cubans for me.

I only smoke a stick about every 2 or 3 weeks, cuz that's all I have time/money for (although, with recent bombs, I do have a fuller humi  ), so I like to smoke nicer stuff, cuz that one a month or so is all about relaxation and pleasure. Like next wednesday is my last final.. so I'll be puffin on that RP Vintage 1990 I was gifted..

I would much rather smoke a few good ones a month then smoke cheap ones to just be able to smoke. For smoking a cigar is an enjoyment to me something that relaxes me and eases my mind. Smoking a cigar to me is something special so I only want to do it maybe 1-2 a week and every once in a while on vacation a little more. But the object is to enjoy!!!!

So go get a good one sit back with some fine Scotch and light her up and enjoy......

George Burns once said the only good $10.00 cigar came wrapped in a $5.00 and 2 $1.00's. :w

I voted "best cigars" however, I absolutly love some "cheap" cigars. Padron and Drew Estates Fumas, Connies, SRO's , AB Trilogy just to name a few. And there are many so called "best" cigars I wouldn't give to a stray hippo. It's all relative I reckon.

ahh... but for some the pleasure is in the regular ritual of smoking an enjoyable cigar - as well as the chase of the elusive cigar that can capture a moment.

I enjoy smoking and collecting my cigars, I also like to 'find' that cigar that truely appeals to me. If it is reasonably priced, all the better. Now, I do look for 'bargain' smokes - it just makes sense to diversify.

I know people who enjoy smoking the same cigar day after day, year after year - I think those people enjoy the comfort of something they know and enjoy as well as the ritual.

I enjoy my daily(well not really - but semi-daily) ritual of relaxation, matching the cigar to my day, or mood, or using the cigar to modify my mood or bring up a memory. Price doesn't play a HUGE role in my Cigar selection, but I do feel a sense of satisfaction when I have an enjoyable cigar experience with a more moderately priced cigar... I guess that is just part of many people's character - we like a deal!!!

If I had to choose between smoking when I am prepared, and smoking only the best, but less ofter, I would choose the former! So that is the way I voted!

Hey... where is BlackKnight??? Isn't he the upholder of the ClubStogie no-snob policy? ;)

I rather smoke good less often. Last time I tried to smoke more then my normal one every other day, Everything I bought sucked. So now I wait and try to buy good stuff.

I don't think anyone enjoys smoking "bad" cigars. Cheaper does not not necessarily equal bad in terms of a cigar.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, i think when the gorillas around look for the low cost cigars, are looking for one that costs as a low end, but tastes as a premium. Sometimes premium cigars are really expensive but dont really taste good, cause the price only comes from the "brand" and not really the quality of the cigar. So I also prefer to smoke good cigars, but not by defining the "good" cigars by their price.

After I quit smoking I started smoking more cigars. Go figure. Since then I have a certain "mix." that fits both budget and habit. It goes something like this; Most of the time I smoke M4's, KDT's, and the like daily (good value + good flavor) and about 2x per week a M2, H2, or PSD4 is in order. Then, there are times when all self-control is lost (about 3 weeks ago at hunting camp... no, no deer this year) see above @x4 sticks a day for the better part of a week. So, I go for good smokes. Some of them may cost less, but still all are solid.
