Maturing Primate
Hello BOTL / SOTL:
Since I like Oliva Serie-V Sun-Grown cigar (especially the Lancero size), which cigars I should try (beside the Serie-V of course...) that would have similar taste and strength ? My preference is on a medium strength, a little spice, not too sweet taste. (I did try out the Fuente Cuban Belicos SG a couple weeks ago, but it was just OK, not Earth shattering or rock-my-world, or anything stellar like that).

On the subject of trying out and finding a cigar that I like, this weekend I tried out the Sabor Cubano (made by La Tradicion Cubana in Miami) and I can not get what the maduro taste supposed to be and I was hoping that I would like the cigar based on Top25cigar.com review but I don't. What did I do wrong ? What should I expect in a maduro cigar ? Can you suggest me a good, reasonably priced, maduro cigar that I can pick up in almost any local BM for a quick try out ?

Thank you in advance.

Agree with the Padron x000 suggestion here are some others.

Hoyo de Monterry Excalibur Epicure great little 5$ maduro

Punch Rothschild Maduros also nice and even cheaper.

Rocky Patel has several good maduros
Olde World Reserve Maduros are nice but 10$ish
The Edge Maduro 6$ish
Fire by Indian Tabac (another RP brand) 3-4$ish

CAO Brazilla or MX2 are both good maduros

Thats just a starting point. Most manufacturers have a least one maduro in their lineup. These are all ones that I have enjoyed. Best of luck finding one you like.

The Oliva V is probably one of my Top 5 NC smokes. If you like these you may also want to try:

Ashton VSG
DPG Blues
DPG El Centurion
Diamond Crown Maximus
Fuente Don Carlos (I like the Belicosa)

Also, you may just not like a Maduro. I for one do not like Maduro's and find most to be on the sweet side whereas I prefer spice :ss

I really like the "Sancho Panza Double Maduro."

Don't let the price fool you, there is much taste to be had despite the $3 price tag. It packs quite a punch, and is full in flavor. To me, the best part is the rich smoke, that has a flavor all it's own. Give her a try!!!
