My b-day is in 10 days :tu And i have a problem. i have no idea what im going to smoke! this is my 1st year smoking cigars and ive become so passionate and in love, that i need to do it big!

with that said, Can you please tell me your favorite cigar and drink pairing? but please be specific. please tell me the name, if u use ice, coke, water, etc. a picture of the bottle would help too lol .... and also be specific of the cigar. hopefully u guys can help me out, and im sorry i know nothing about pairing, but thats why i have you guys lol :D thanks in advance!

Well because I am not 21 yet, I honestly could not give you a good pairing alcohol wise when it comes to gars' but I tend to pair all my gars with either water or Regular/Diet coke. If its water, its with ice, if its coke, generally just straight out of the can.

As for the cigar, my go to celebration cigar is always the Padron 1964 Anniversary. I have heard that the 1926 is a better gar, but I've yet to try it, so I could not comment on it.

I'd go with a Davidoff Diademas Finas. Its a special cigar but it can be had locally in the DC area by going downtown to Draper Tobacco. Its an excellenet stick thats ready to smoke as soon as you buy it and you can get it locally unlike Cubans.

Then I'd get myself a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue.

Makers Mark.... the only way to go with a fine cigar.

Just the "mark" on the rocks, in a short whiskey glass. thats it

oh, and for the cigar.... hmmmmmmmmm, maybe and Opus?

The Padron 1964 line is great, and a blue monn with a wedge of orange is also a nice touch

that sounds good.

sounds strong lol ... and i was thinking about the Opus, but i think im gonna go with t he 64 :)

They have the honeymoon out right now, its bluemoons spring beer in a yellow box. I think its goes a little better than the regular bluemoon, and im also a big fan of the 1964s, I think they are better than the 1926

I agree with Makers Mark. Short glass on the rocks...sip away. So smooth & delicios. Had some last week with an oliva V. AWESOME

Your asking a lot as to what is a "good" cigar, what is a "good" drink, and then which 2 when combined will make a good pair.

1. A really good cigar is like a really good drink. Best done alone. I drink either Evan Williams 10 yr old Single Barrell or maker's which is easier to find in bars. Evan's 10 yr is as good as Maker's but with less bite. The Basil Haydens and Maker's are also very good and reasonably priced bourbons. All "good" bourbons should be on the rocks and no mixer. Life is to short to drink cheap liquor that has to be mixed. If you like tequela, a good one to try is Tarantuala. No salt or lemon required, very tasty and I don't even like tequela.

2. Most good cigars will stand on their own and you may miss what your paying for in taste as the liquor will be effecting the taste buds. When smoking a really top dollar cigar, I usually go with water (although I would rather be having a bourbon with it).

3. Which 2 will go together, again purely subjective. While others drool over a good Scotch, I wouldn't let it pass my lips. Others might look at my Evans' and say it only fit for running in the lawn mower. BTW, the Evan's Single has a nice complex flavoring that finishes with a spicy/peppery styled taste.

4. Since your asking, were it my birthday. I'd start the festivities off with a special drink that you want to try (do you like mixed drinks, neat drinks, fruity stuff, etc). Take a small break with a glass of water maybe a touch of squeezed lemon to cleanse the pallette. Smoke the "special" cigar with a glass of water. A bit later have another special drink with a good known cigar.

All my :2 and may not be worth that much.

BTW - this is a great thread I got a chance to participate in on taste testing:
