Ideas/Advice?

Newbie in the jungle
I'm looking to buy a humidor as a gift for my boyfriend, I've looked up the basics about how to shop for one and things to look out for (seal, hinges, interior lining, etc.)

But now I'm curious as to what kind I should get him. It'll be the first humidor he's owned and he's recently taken up tobacco smoking as a hobby.

I want to get him a desktop that holds somewhere between 50-150. The other part is I am a starving college student, so I can probably only spend up to $125.00, I want to get him a nice one with a good seal, separate storage compartments/dividers (so the aromas don't mix when he wants to try new ones), hidden hinges,a Spanish cedar interior, and (of course) I would ideally like it to be fairly attractive looking.

If there are any recommendations where to find a quality humidor for a good price, and maybe a little advice to tell me what else I should look for, or be wary of, it would be much appreciated!

Boy, it really sounds like you have the important stuff down! Keep the things that you mentioned in mind and you should be fine.

I think a lot of the people here trust the following websites for humidors:

www.cheaphumidors.com
www.tampahumidor.com

I tend to trust ones that have the "sureseal technology" although that may be mere marketing hogwash.

It sounds like the important points you listed are in line with your price range. I think at this point, you should be able to find a trusted brand and simply buy one off appearance. To help you save some dough, I'll PM you a 15% off coupon code to cheaphumidors.com. I think they are the most popular place around here, and even if you have problems, they'll make it right.

Good luck with the present shopping! I'm sure your boyfriend will be happy!

Does it have to be new?

Is he an experienced cigar smoker?

If you would be willing to buy a slightly used, less than 1 year old "starter" Humidor, I have this one:

It's only a 25 count, holds a tad more depending on size.

I will even fill it with a few dozen different cigars for half of what you were looking to spend.

This way he gets to sample a lot of different cigars, gets a basic humidor to store them and if he sticks with cigar smoking you can get him a larger one for Christmas or a birthday or better yet your anniversary :D

If interested PM me.

if your 10% deal is still going on that would probably sweeten the pot for them, was that only for the 30th?

Just save him the trouble of buying multiple humidors and, later on, coolers, and just buy him an Aristocrat :tu:ss
