First post: I hate to beat the dead horse one more time, but here goes. I am pretty new to the forum; read the reviews daily -- have seen tons of reviews on 5 Vegas label. Tried to find them in local tobacco stores -- you won't find them there newbies! Apparently private label brand. I finally bought a sampler: three Golds, three Classics, three "A" labels and one '08 Limitata -- all torpedoes.
Loved the golds. Mild enough to smoke two or more per day (I usually smoke one cigar a day with my Manhattan). Very fine ash; easy draw, volumes of smoke. Would be nice to have these available all the time.
Did not dislike the Classics, but nothing especially appealing about them to me. Flakey ash (looked like a "homeless" ashperson) and indifferent taste.
Loved the "A"s! Good flavor of leather, nice draw, good amounts of smoke and some spice thrown in. Newbies, I think I've figured out the spice thing. I was equating the reference with "pepper," now I think smokers are referring to a kind of clove flavor or incense smell. I think I get it.
Loved the '08 Limitadas. Very spicey (as defined above). A long smoke. Slower burn and tighter draw. I did have to relight and touch up often, but I think that was due to the fluctuations in humidity in my humidor at the moment.
I am definitely going to buy a box of Golds, "A"s and when I get the money, a box of the '08 Limitadas. I hope the cigars in the boxes are equal to the sampler -- they would not put better stuff in the samplers, would they?
First post, thanks for the patience with me. Regards, McCleod.
