JR Ultimate Review

I tried a JR Ultimate natural wrapper 4 weeks ago that I just received from JR's. It was "green" with definite ammonia, "PG"? taste and aroma. I almost shipped the whole box back to JR's, but decided to let them "stew" in my coolidor @ 65RH with Boveda pack for the next 4 weeks. I tried one today with much better results! Easy light, even, cool burn for 1 hr. Medium gray ash that remained 1.5" before falling. Ist 1/3 leathery taste, then slight spiciness with some bitter after taste. Overall 6/10, mainly because of the bitter after taste. No "PG" or "ammonia" noted. The JR Ultimate is supposedly JR's top of the line, with a 92 Rating. It definitely is not in the same class of RP, R&J, Padron, or Fuente! I wanted to let everyone know that, at least in this case, an awful cigar can be improved with age in the "Coolidor"! Any comments, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and stay warm, everyone!

I have had a few boxes of different brands and have found it to be the case with many of them but as with many things a little time, about 3 month or so in the humidor, and a cigar that was not very good changes into one that is not half bad. In fairness to JRs, I have in times past gotten a box that was just fine from the very first smoke to the last one.:ss Of course I am sure that may not always be the case:tu.
