Just curious

I have been advocating the health benefits of smoking cigars with some friends of mine at work. Quite a few are not cigar smokers and are, quite frankly, not fond of the idea of smoking them. I guess getting dried out White Owls from the liquor store would turn you off to them too. But in order to win them over to our side, which cigar would you gift them? Mind you this is for people who are not fond of cigars vs. people who have never tried them.

As an aside what cigar would you gift to someone who is not a cigar smoker but was curious about trying one?

Not sure if I would even bother as they'll probably get sick even if you gave them a Cohiba. That being said, I would give them whatever cigar you enjoy.

Give them an Opus and watch them :pu

Just kidding, most people brand new try Macanudo. Make sure it is a mild stick along those lines and be sure to tell them to eat first.

Macanudos, NC RyJ, and Perdomo Champagne seem to be goog starter gifts. Many people also enjoy the AF 858 Natural as a good first smoke

I would give them a Drew Estate cigar.:bn
But truly, most are mild and have a sweet taste that they may like, esp along the Acid or Natural line.

I would suggest these:

In order of price:

Olivia Serie G or O
La Aroma de Cuba
Pepin Blue
Davidoff
Padron Anni

Don't give them the LFD Chisel :ss That'd never get you invited anywhere :tu

I usually give out Rocky Patel 1999's to friends who want to try a smoke. I also like some of the previous suggestions such as a Olivia or Torano connecticut.

coming from a newbie. i dont have much recommendations on a cigar, but a long with sticks, make sure you give them a paper with a list of tips and a "how to".

how to cut, smoke, light it.
tips: eat 1st, take your time etc.

an even better idea, invite them over for a little get together. and SHOW them all the kool stuff that comes a long with smoking. like the different shapes, the way of lighting it, how you can mix drinks with it, how kool a humidor looks and smells and so on.

fun + a flavorful mild cigar = good times and they'll be impressed.

:tu

Listen to all the advice here, dont start em out strong or they will again be put off, but for a dif reason than the first time. Lots of good suggestions here, personally I would suggest an Oliva or a Macanudo

All good choices. I have been giving out to part time smokers who want to learn more... the Oliva Special G. It's a short smoke but flavorful.
They always come and ask questions about it after smoking. Then I can steer them toward other bands they may like as well.

I'm not sure it's worth you trouble, or even a good idea to try and convince someone to do something they're not interested in. Especially since there are quite possibly more health concerns than benefits associated with smoking (generally speaking).

If they're not fond of the idea, leave them be. If they're at least a little curious, follow the instructions written here.
