La Aurora 1495 Cameroon 1994

Figured I would review these since I did not see a review for them. Picked up a box of these on cbid (took a chance and picked up a box (10 per box) for $50. They have a Cameroon wrapper from 1994 and only 2,000 boxes were made since that was all they could make with the 1994 wrapper. They are a corona size (5”x44). I grabbed a bottle of my favorite drink to go with cigars, water. Skim cut the end, the cigar had a nice draw.

Upon lighting the only flavor I noticed was a peppery taste. After about half an inch I thought I blew it buying a box of these. The peppery flavor predominated and that was it. Soon after regretting my purchase the flavor changed dramatically. A very complex flavor of cinnamon and cocoa with a hint of pepper predominated. Halfway through a woodsy note was added to the aforementioned flavors. A complex smoke which is reminiscent, to me, of some nice aged cigars I have smoke recently. Many subtle flavors with none of them smacking you in the face/palate. Also, there was lots of smoke from this small cigar. As I continued to the last third molasses sweetness was added to the mixture to complement the other flavors. These flavors continued until the end. Overall, a great cigar. If you get a chance to pick some up I would highly recommend. I would be interested in the opinions of any others who have tried them. Now I wish I had bought more than one box!! I sent one of these to RevSmoke in an NST, warned him that I had not tried them yet, and now would like him to return it immediately. Just kidding Todd!

I would rate these a 9.5 out of 10. :tu:tu Two thumbs up

Didn’t take any pictures because I didn’t know I was going to do a review.

Thanks for the review... I've been very interested with the whole series and especially the cammie :dr
My B&M ran out and not sure when they will get an more in :hn

The corona just arrived as part of the CI cigar of the month club (I have issues). I can't wait to try it now. Thanks for the review!

I'm on the Self Imposed "Cigars Delivered Three to Four Times a WEEK Club" myself. I'm getting to know ALL of the Fed-Ex/UPS drivers far too well.

I noticed that one of the catalogs had the Aurora Cameroon Perfecto's in a Sampler pack. Six of them for forty bucks IIRC. They were OUT so I'm doing the "notify me by E Mail" deal.

Good review of a cigar of interest.:tu

I've never tried any of the 1495 line before. I'm going to have to try some of the others now. If they are all like this cigar I found a new favorite to add to my list of favorites. I hope they are just as good because this one is a limited production smoke.

George,
First, you blast the snot out of me with that package. Then, you review one of them - making me want to go in right out now and take a walk.

You are not a nice man!!!:D

Todd,

I had to try it before you did so I could warn you in case it was lousy. :ss

Now I can't wait to try one of these puppies from the box I received last week. Thanks for the review!

The regular 1495 corona is one of my daily smokes. Nice medium cigar i'd say. Some spice, earth, and something sweet.. never can figure out the sweet taste in that gar.

Awesome review....I'm hoping my La Aurora gives me the same review without the initial peppery blast. :ss

I forgot I still have some of these. Thanks for resurrecting this! Been a while since I had one. Gonna have to light up another soon to see if I still feel the same about them.
