La Floridita "Limited Edition"

Waiting for the Nub 180!
These are a newer line made for Famouse Smoke Shop by Nestor Plasencia. What interested me was the blend: Nicaraguan and Mexican filler, Indonesian binder, and Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper.

This is a big fat robusto, 5 X 60. The cigar is quite heavy in the hand but has a loose draw, almost too loose but not quite. The RG is a little off-putting too I gotta admit. I should have snagged the toros, which are a 54 RG. Nice looking Maduro wrapper that is very obviously naturally fermented and NOT "enhanced" color-wise.

Pre-light aroma of the cigar is barnyard with a touch of floral. Pre-light draw is earthy.

First 1/3

First few puffs are pure tobacco with a bite in the nostrils. Reminds me a lot of a Camacho Corojo, which isn't a bad thing. About 1/2" in the flavor starts opening up a little bit, showing a subtle baking spice flavor and a sweet finish underneath the blast of tobacco flavor. Me likey so far! :tu

Second 1/3

Strength has mellowed a bit but still getting a nice bite in the nostrils. Starting to show some typical Maduro flavors, unsweetened cocoa and a nuttiness. If somebody handed me this cigar in a blind taste test I would swear it was a Camacho blend. I am really diggin' this cigar. Burn is crooked but not outta control.

Final 1/3

Getting a little ammonia. I barely got these a week ago so I'm not surprised. A flame purge gave me a few more good draws but I ended up letting 'er die at about 2".

Final thoughts

I will definitely revisit these in a few months. Again, I would swear this was a Camacho if I hadn't seen the band. I can picture these becoming a nice smoke with some rest.

Thanks, I was waiting for a review on these. I really like the original LaFloridita maddys and I wondered how they compared. Thanks for the review.

Can't really give a definitive answer based on one cigar that was still too fresh, but if I had to make a decision I would say the original LF maddies are better.

Nice review! Been wondering bout these for a long while.
