LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro

Very nice review!
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to have had burn problems. I've had a couple of 5's and really enjoyed them. They did need a few touch ups but after a purge it was all good again. I went to pick up a few more at my B&M a couple of weeks ago. The were dry and flakey. His humi (HUGE walk-in)was 80F and 48 RH!! All the nude stick were so dry that I was afraid to get any. I might be able to slowly revive them, but why take the risk. He has got it a little better in there since then, but I'm still going to buy only tubos until I know the problem is fixed.

These are great smokes but they do tend to have burn issues. I've tried lighting them different ways but nothing changes. To me they have a strong sweet coffee flavor and if you take your time with them they are great but if you get in a hurry they need purged often.

If you like these then you need to try the wavelle (sp) in maduro. These are priced less and still give you a nice punch with loads of great flavor.

Just my :2

you convinced me so I bought a 10er of them off cbid. BTW PAY ATTENTION to the numbers as I clicked submit I realised it was a 10 pack I thought I was putting a bud on a full box. so I payed $3 over cigar international price for them.. :hn
Im still excited tho to get them in :D

I find these to be great strong smokes when you just need to get the heart pumping. I've also found that 3-5 months of rest in my humi smoothes the rough edges off and keeping them at 65% RH or a little lower helps with the burn issues. I still smoke somke some young, and love watching someone smoke there first one!!! Course the regular LGC line is decent and ages very well.

LGC Series R maddies are a favorite of mine...next time you start feeling light-headed or nauseous if you don't have a sugared soda, a teaspoon or two of straight sugar will counter-act the nicotine buzz you're getting, but use the sugar the moment you start feeling the buzz...

The LGCR #4/5 are one of my my regular daily go to smokes...I seldomly have had any kind of burn issues at all...Even with the #6's...This cigar has alot of character...I have yet to find another cigar with it's unique flavor...Strong but not too strong, and like someone stated before about half way thru, it softens up in a very appealing way...

It is also a great smoke fresh right out of the box...Aging them does tame them a little but I do not feel that with this cigar it is necessary...

Lots of thick tastey smoke...Tastes great all the way to the nub...

Enjoy.

This is another one of my everyday go to. Love the maduro but the natural is great with coffee in the mornings. get a chance try one of the Special Reserves as well. Very nice.

:tpd: Lighting a LGC Series R #6 Natural right now. Very smooth, Great draw, easy hour smoke. Oh and a crown and coke to go with it. Ahhhhhhhhh

This cigar has been a reliable "go to" for me, great taste, burn, draw always an enjoyable experience tried them in the natual wrapper and didn't care for 'em as much as the maduro, always have a couple in my humi :2

I'm not mad, just worried! I love this cigar and I was hoping that it wasn't died. I tried researching some on the net to find out, but couldn't find anything. The person that informed me had heard the story from our local B&M!

This is crazy, cuz I KNOW what B&M your talking about!!! I don't buy there very much either because of this.

Glad to see that this is a popular smoke here. These were like my second box purchase, the #5 maddie.
The thing is, I have'nt had any burn issuses with 8 or 9 i have smoked so far.
What rh are you guys keeping them in?

65% the cigar sat in my humi for a month or so before I smoked it. regardless of burn I will be buying more of these when I can afford to.

smoked my first one of these (#4) after dinner last night while walking with the spousal unit. This was a great cigar. A little bit of a burn issue, but nothing that detracted from the overall experience. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that they thought it was a tad stronger than the Edge and I would have to agree. Glad I got more than one.

I've only tried the #4 because the others just seem too big to me. It is a tasty smoke and I enjoy them. Thanks of the tip on the Wavells Do3, I've never tried those.

I pulled a Serie R out of the humi last night, have been looking forward to smoking for some time. Everytime I looked at it I would remember the ad with Ernesto Carillo explaining that he's always enjoyed fuller bodied smokes- hence the large ring gauge of the Serie R. Mine had a natural wrapper, not maduro, and my overall impression is that it is a well dressed piece of garbage. The best part of this cigar, for me, was an even burn. It burned straight and that's about it. No full body, no depth of flavor- just the same burned air over and over for a half hour or so...I still don't know why I finished it- probably out of spite. It wasn't bad tasting or anything...I don't know, just week. After more than a 1/2 inch I could still see straight through to the cherry......this made me wonder, what good is a large ring gauge if you don't fill it? By the sounds of things, the Maduro has a good bit more flavor and punch- I'll certainly try the maduro next time, but I'll be damned if I pay full price. If you can't tell, I'm still disappointed (and bitter) but I'll get over it- going to forget about it with a nice fat Brazilia Lambada later this evening. Sorry about the Rant :sb

I had a LGC-R #5 Maduro last weekend after dinner with a tumbler of Black Velvet on the rocks with a tall glass of ice water back.

This cigar was exceptional! I really enjoyed it. The burn was really quite even. Not as good as some but really ok. The flavor was very good, not at any time harsh.

I'll be adding a box soon!
