Here we go with another cigar via Jose Pepin Garcia. The current rock star of the cigar world, and I would be one of his whores.:D

Let me start by saying this a beautiful and well constructed cigar. After a nice cut with my Xikar I toasted and lite it with ease. This cigar comes with a Naturally Dark USA Connecticut broadleaf wrapper around a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The draw is great and there is a nice volume of smoke.

The first taste is a sweet almond and a mild leather hint of bliss. This cigar is exceptional right out of the gate. The ash is a nice gray and white ash. The first third is very consistent and flavorful. Just what you come to expect from a Pete Johnson cigar.

Moving into the middle of the cigar the flavor is still a very consistent sweet almond flavor with just a hint of leather. This is a very medium to full bodied cigar. I just don't have the words to explain how great this cigar is. And at around $9(in MI) it is well worth it.

On to the last third of this cigar the flavor is really picking up. Just getting better and better. The sweet flavor is now being accented by a mild spice that is very nice. The hint of leather is also still there as well. The burn has been perfect through out. Have not had to touch it up once.

Well, as I have come to the end of my cigar, or nub cuz that is all that is left. At the very end of the cigar it picked up a mild but not unpleasant peppery taste. Not a burnt flavor but just mild pepper.

Well on a scale of 1-10 I would have to give this cigar an 8.5, it has been one of the better new cigars I have tried lately. So chalk up another victory to Pete Johnson and Jose Pepin Garcia. My hat is off to them!

Thanks for the review.

I was lucky enough to have been gifted one (not really sure what number it was) this past Tuesday.

I liked the cigar, but feel the one I smoked was a little fresh and would have been much better with a little more time.

I plan on buying some when I see them and I bet they would be a good cigar to age.

I actually really like this cigar. My local B&M just got these in. I smoked one last night, which was fresh, was very suprised by how bold it was. I would have to agree with an 8 rating. A good solid smoke, that will only get better with a little bit of age.

I ordered a sampler from Dan at NewHav. Can't wait until they come in !!! I have herd nothing but great things about these sticks

I just made my way through the sampler from NHC. For me the No. 1 (lonsdale) and No. 5 (petite corona) were just average. Not bad smokes at all but didn't really do anything for me. I tend to like smaller ring gauge cigars but these seemed to be lacking something. I read somewhere that these have no ligero at all so maybe the smaller ring gauges just needed a kick?

But the other three, No. 2 (belicoso), No. 3 (corona gorda), and No. 4 (robusto) were outstanding. The No. 3 I would rate as the best of the lot. The corona was the perfect size to show off what this brand is all about. Nice medium to full bodied stick with lots of earthy flavors. The the No. 2 was a very close second. It burned just a tiny bit too hot but other than that it was great.

These all should age well but they can also be enjoyed right away. I didn't get any indications that these needed time in the humi.

Very good review!

My B&M should be recieving these on Tuesday. Yet, have been fortunate to have already had it. A great cigar it is!

Be on the lookout for a new cigar by Pepin called Cubao, making it for Erick Espinoza and Eddie Ortega from 601.
