La Riqueza #5

boonedoggle

Goal: 1,000,000,000 posts
APPEARANCE: A beautiful sparkling, dark, oily Petite Corona. Well wrapped cap, and the foot reveals the appearance of meticulous detail in constructing the insides. She is also slightly heavy for her size. Quite

PRE-LIGHT AROMA/ BOUQUET: Nice aroma of coffee and toffee.

SMOKE (volume, color, aroma): Nice gray smoke that smells very nice…almost a pipe tobacco smell.

BURN: Pretty even throughout. No need to touch this baby up. Could probably go for 5 minutes sitting alone without needing a touchup.

ASH: Dark gray ash.

DRAW: Perfect draw.

FLAVOR 1/3: Starts off very spicy. As I’m not a fan of spicy cigars, it was somewhat unpleasant. However, the cigar, sensing my thoughts, mellowed out very quickly.

FINISH/AFTERTASTE 1/3: The taste of cinnamon toast is very high on my tongue. Very unique.

FLAVOR 2/3: She begins to get very creamy at this point. Very relaxing draw that tickles the tastbuds.
.
FINISH/AFTERTASTE 2/3: Rich tobacco taste is prevalent. Many different spice tastes, without the spiciness!

FLAVOR 3/3: Very complex taste. This is quickly becoming one of the finest PCs I’ve had in quite a while.

FINISH/AFTERTASTE 3/3: Finished up with hints of chocolate milk and nutmeg.

SUMMARY: Pound for pound, I think this is the best La Riqueza by far. The particular La Riqueza blend seems to match this vitola perfectly. This is one cigar I will have in my humi for a long time. Quite easily in my top 10 all time smoke!

Nice review, I think Pete journyed to Cuba for the look of this cigar. The size and look of the box down to the triple cap.

These are fantastic cigars and I have enjoyed them a lot more then...dare I say...the overhyped Tat Black. :ss

YES! I absolutely agree. The LRs are much better than the Blacks, IMO!

I really liked the #5 I smoked, the #3 was not nearly as good. I need to smoke the rest of the line sampler I got.

I liked them ok, gotta try a few more. I pulled out some Black Rasberry in mine.

I bought a box of #5 when they were first released, and have been smoking about one per week since. I wish I had waited until right now (about 3 months?) to start in on them, because they are perfect at this time. I agree with your review Boondoggle, and I'll be picking up more of these for sure.

:tu

I just picked up a box of these and it's a very good smoke. A little spice at the beginning. A medium body smoke.

Hey Boone,
Did you buy a sampler or just the #5?
I have some #1's if you want to trade or at least try one.

I also agree this is quite a good smoke. I'll be smoking another Tuesday evening to compare to the Tat Black I had Thursday evening.

Care to join Tues evening at my local B&M?

Never being being a fan of of PC's until this summer, the No. 5 has to be among my top 20 smokes in the past 5 years. It has a Cuban-esque feel to it. The draw was amazing and there was no need for a touch up. Complex is a great word to describe the flavor, especially for a cigar I gave little aging. I expect this or the No. 3 in CA's top 25 for '08. Pete hit a home run with this line.

I got a sampler of all sizes a while back, and found I really did not like many of the vitola's...for me, the blend worked the best with the PC, but not with the others. Me and my odd taste budz:ss

Great review, of what sounds to be a great cigar. I need to scrape up some funds and pick up some of these.

Thanks for sharing.
