La Riqueza and Gispert bands identical?!

I don't have the energy to find images online, but while looking through a cigar catalog, the Gispert band caught my eye, and I noticed it was identical to the La Riqueza bands! Well, except for the logo and text. The bands are identical!

I had the energy to look for the images online but I used it all up and now don't have the energy to post the pics.
 
I remember reading somewhere that Pete ripped off an old Cuban band and just added his signature fleur de le. I guess Gispert did the same thing.

They are definitely not the same blend. ;)
 
Just caught my eye in passing...I mean, I really don't care because those #5s are frickin' amazing. I MUST get a box!
 
I had a very long conversation with Pete Johnson last week (about 5 or 6 hours). Yes, he does take the artwork from old Cuban bands and has them redone for his labels, but it is generally stuff that is in the public domain already. I did get to see some of the things he is planning for his future releases and can say they will be very interesting and different from what you see now. La Riqueza is an old Cuban brand and the artwork is very much in line with the original art.

Didn't ripoff, Pete bought the rights to several old cuban brands. Which he will be re-releasing some of the lines in the future....
