Lowering RH in Humi with bead???

Hello ,
My beads have arrived to me yesterday and promptly put them inside my humidor which was reading 70-72% RH for a couple months now. So I left the 65% tubes in there for one day and the next got them out and dried them with a hair drier . Once white again, I placed them again in my humidor (which was still reading 70 by the way =( ) Is this correct what Im doing to lower the RH in my humidor? . I know Im using a good amount of beads , I have 2 1 oz. tubes for a 75 ct. humi. What do you guys think , is this correct? Have anymore input? Thnanks,

Might want to leave them in there for a bit longer, but it sounds like you're on the right track. You could also add more cigars.



But I'm sure you've considered that. :D
 
I just put mine in as well. So are the beads suppose to be dry or moist. I've sprayed mine with distilled water from a spray bottle. Their 65% but humi is still reading 72%. does it take awhile. Help need knowledge.

If you are trying to bring humidity down, don't spray the beads. Let them pull in the humidity from the humi. Try leaving the door open for 5 minutes and watch the digital. If RH drops a decent amount, then you might want to leave humi open some each day to let dry air in house/smoking room pull out some of the RH. Don't know what the rh is at your local, but inside my house, running around 45% currently. Once humidity drops to around 65-68%, you should be able to leave shut with beads maintaining around 65%. When the rh drops below a level you are comfortable with (my number is 60%), then spray one of your bead tubes, put it in the humi, give it a day or so, and see what that does. Spray second after a day or so if you want the rh higher. I find that the beads are not a magic cure for bouncing rh, but they do tend to slow the speed of the bounce, and control the top and bottom ends of the bounce (especially during winter).

Ive tried to do what you said about leaving the door open for 5 mins or so. In fact , I left it open for 30 mins. but what killed myplan is that where Im from RH levels tend to flucutate between 65-73% EVERYDAY for this season. So when I open my door the hygro shoots up to 80% in like 10 seconds flat! Plus the fact that Ive been leavig my cigars at 69-72 RH. Its been two days now and still no change, just a solid 71 %RH.
 
Course cigars are tougher than we give them credit form 71-75 will not harm them. The big thing is to stay away for 80%. that the magic number that the beatles start to hatch. Not sure what the number is for mold to form.

I think we are getting temp confused with RH - Temp at 80 can cause beettle issues.. RH at 75% will cause draw and burn issues
 
Just give the beads some time to bring the humidity down. They can be moistened and still do this - you just have to wait a bit. My experience with beads (1/2 lb. of 70% beads) was that I got 'em wet (a little too wet) and put them in a cooler with all my boxes one of which was my 50-count humidor, which had been hovering at 75%. After about 10 days the entire cooler is now reading 70%. I think this may have worked out to be the best thing, as the humidity was slowly moved from 75% to 70%. All my sticks look great and I think yours will be OK too.
