Man Lair!

CarpeDNA

Maturing Primate
Ok, I have had it! I want a man lair! I went over to a buddy's house last week and he had a pretty neat setup outside. He has nice comfy patio furniture with some lighting on the table. He put a small LCD tv in an upright storage cabinet along with a stereo. Also, he put down some outdoor floor covering that just makes the whole thing relatively classy. We listened to Neil Young and talked cigars for a while and had a great time.

I am no longer satisfied with sitting on hard concrete out back after the kiddos go to bed. I deserve better, dag nabbit (sp?).

If any of you other brothers out have a cool man-lair that you would like to share a description of, let us know so we can be inspired for a better place to enjoy our hobby!

At my house, me and my Father (yes i live at home, when not at college, i'm only 19) have three set ups for smoking. The lazy set up is alittle 12 inch TV in the garage with a couple platic chairs, and a kittie litter box with a ashtry on it. O did i mention that out beermeister is in the garage :) . The second set up for nice day time summer weather is out in our side yard with a 17 inch TV and a 10' x10' Canopy over us. The third set up is for at night during the summer where we have a 17 inch or the radio on our back deck, with our pretty comfortable rocking patio furniture. We light out 8 tiki tourches around the deck for a real night atmosphere. I got to American University, and at school me and my friends found a nice little spot surronded by trees with about six benches back there. its a nice secluded spot to smoke. Don't know if any are "Man Lairs", but i have amany a good smokes and times there.

I have my own cigar lounge aka - Storage Shed outside of my house. Its a relatively large shed and half of it has all the stuff a shed should have but the other half is my own private oasis.

I've got a full size couch in there along with a TV, DVD Player and Stereo. Its even got some really "classy" christmas lighting up in the top of it :r

I just go out there and watch my favorite flick and enjoy a beautiful cigar. Its perfect for me. I even put in a large rug on the floor so I can feel the soft carpet beneath my feet while I'm chillin' in my shed ....er.... cigar lounge:D

Works for me man!

I know what you mean, the patio outside is nice during the summer, but here in Toronto, it gets cold in the winter. I hope I can smoke in the garage, thinking about a set up so the smell doesn't go in the house or my wife will put a stop to it.

BTW CarpeDNA did you go to Montreal yet?

Miki, I have not gone to Montreal yet. I will be leaving next Thursday, 13 October and be there for about a week for a conference. From other threads and suggestions, I am planning to go to Blatter & Blatter and La Casa del Habano. Should be fun.

Any of you men, including myself ever notice that we are abolished to the outside with our cigar smoking.

Who is the man of the house now ?

THE MAN LAIR

Oh my God! That thought never even entered my consciousness when I posted it. I feel dirty now. I need to take a shower.

I wasn't until.... oh God...OH GOD.... sweaty, scantily, leather-clad men gyrating to ABBA on a flashing, multicolored disco floor while Bill the doorman puts lip print stamps on the back of each patron's hand as they enter... Wow... didn't need that. :r

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. He was talking about guys who can't tell the truth, and was momentarily dyslexic.

I'm one of the fortunate, and I'm thankful. My wife (a non-smoker) doesn't mind my smoking cigars in the house. We allow absolutely no cigarrette smoking in here though. We've been married about two hundred years, and all four kids are grown and married. I enjoy my smokes in my recliner, in the AC, with an icy drink and whatever electronic entertainment marvel I want at the time. We enjoy each other and don't like too much time apart. She's in her recliner reading, I'm in mine doing a little cigar research. All is well. The exhaust fan, air purifier and febreeze keep it nice. I'm a happy man.

I want to be your neighbor.

Well I live in Houston so the summer is HOT! But in my back yard I have a 10x10 canopy with music and patio furniture, then I have a pool with a bench 18" down across two sides so it's the perfect depth to sit and smoke...but your in the water so there are limitations....but the cool weather is coming and I bought a big copper fire pit to be able to sit around and have a nice smoke at night, I might get crazy and even put on a sweatshirt one of these days.

Txdawg, the summers are also hot here in Carnage Station and the weather is about to change on us a little bit. I hope you get a little cool breeze down there Houston way. Next time there is a herf in Houston, I am going to try and get down there. Only problem is that it is a long drive for me there and back for an evening during the weekday.

I walk to the top of my garage apt stairs and settle into my folding chair. Get a little breeze up there and can block it by moving a little close to the door. Also plenty of shade. It's heaven to me!

I've always envisioned something like this:

Leather furniture, hardwood floors, etc.

Since winter's coming and I don't really have a spot picked out, I may end up in one of these:

Oh... the humanity.....
