Well its a very enjoyable evening out here in South Florida, I just got these Man O' War's in today, decided to do a review on them. Usually I let new cigars sit a month or so before smoking one, but I couldn't help myself. This is my first attempt at a review, so please bare with me. I haven't seen many reviews on this, so hope this helps some of you guys.
Man O' War Robusto(5.5" x 50)
Construction: Amazingly rolled, firm but has some give to it, no soft spots. The wrapper has a redish hue to it, which is quite appealing. Virtually vein free, except for one small one running the entire length of the stick.
Pre Light: I clipped the cap with my Palio, gave a very clean cut. Took my first pre light draw, the draw is perfect, its not to hard or to light, just perfect. Upon the pre light draw, I was hit with the taste of mostly black pepper, that left a tingle in the back of my throat.
First 1/3: I used my torch, toasted the foot, lite it up. I was hit after my first draw with a creamy but yet spicy flavor, a tiny hint of citrus. The smoke is very thick, ample amounts with little effort. The most significant taste on my palate at this moment is cedar, black pepper and hickory. Burn is down right perfect, even with a lighting error on my part it quickly corrected itself after a few good draws.
Half Way: The black pepper has worn off, but left a tingle in the back of my throat, it has yet to subside. The flavors are now dominated by floral, cedar. The burn is still razor sharp.
Coming To The End: Well I am down to the last 1.5" or so, this is where this cigar is shining. The spice has come back, reminding me of the taste of a Monte No. 2, that I had but a few weeks ago while staying at Atlantis, the aroma is so close to it as well. There is alot of spice, but its not over powering, its just right. The citrus hint has come back as well, its pairing nicely with the spice.
Conclusion: This was a great smoke, lasting about 1.5 hours, the flavors changed a few times, its not a very complex cigar, but it will keep you guessing. I bought a box, I am going to let these sit, as I can only see them getting better with some age. I am currently going to continue smoking this until my fingers start to burn, haha. Grab a 5 pack and give them a try, because I can promise you, you will pick up a box.
