Might need to cut down

My mouth gets raw if I smoke more than one or two a week. That's cool, though. Just means I enjoy it that much more when I finally get around to smoking.

Wow... After reading this, I can honestly say that I feel lucky. I don't have any problems smoking 4 - 5 in a day, and after I do, I don't spend days brushing my teeth or nursing myself back to health. If I felt really bad after smoking a cigar, I don't think I would do it. I even enjoy the taste in my mouth after I smoke, it brings me a pleasant feeling.

My palette gets quite beat up also if I have too many in one sitting, such as 3 or more. For that reason, I usually limit myself to 1 or 2 max per sitting otherwise I need to rest up for a few days.

Since I started smoking cigars a few months ago, I've increased my consumption to about three to four cigars a week, concentrated mostly on the weekends. I've noticed, though, that by Monday or Tuesday, my mouth feels like it's in pretty bad shape--as if the roof and bottom are somewhat corroded.

I think I'd better cut down to just one or two a week. Maybe my constitution's too delicate for any more than that. I enjoy my cigars, but I guess I should be mindful of my health too.

Anyone else have similar experiences? And apologies for the less-than-cheerful post. :hn
My mouth doesn't get sore, but the next day, if I've smoked even one cigar, my breath smells like fermented azz when I wake up. No matter how much water I drink, how many times I brush my teeth or gargle with listerine before I go to bed, my breath is just plain rotten when I wake up the next day(definetly worse than if I hadn't smoked the day before). Trust me, my wife Jenn loves it:tu

My throat usually starts to hurt a bit after my 3rd cigar within 2 days, sometimes it's alright and I can smoke 3 cigars in one sitting and about 3 more cigars the next day and I'll be fine, but there will be the days where I'll only smoke 1-2 cigars and it'll start to hurt.

It usually happens when a cigar has that "dry mouth" effect. I read a thread about it but I forgot what it's caused by.

Cigars dont faze my mouth.
I smoke one a day and then on the weekends I will have 2 day sometimes 3.

I really would not want to get in the habit of smoking 4 day. Health is one thing but the cost is another.

I agree. I don't think the there are health issues for a cigar a day, but the $ start adding up. I skip a day or two nearly every week. The cigars are even better when you've gone without.

Actually, I usually don't. Judging from the various comments above, I'd conclude that I just have a major case of wuss-mouth. Stupid uncooperative body of mine...

I to suffer from wuss-mouth:r ...i really do, i can have at most two in one day if I eat in between the smokes.

I have had the same thing happen to me with pipes, but only very rarely with cigars if I am smoking it too fast and it gets hot. How fast do you smoke your cigars?

Hehe, I eat and drink too fast, and it's the same with my cigar smoking.

But I'm not sure slowing down would help, necessarily. It's not that I get dry mouth or anything--the inside of my mouth literally seems damaged after three or four days of smoking.

It seems strange, but that's exactly what it feels like when my pipes really burn me up. It's called tongue bite in the pipe world, but it has happened with my cigars too. You either get used to it, or with pipes, you learn a better technique. Hope it helps, or at least eases your mind a bit.

You have to beat your body into submission and just not take "no" for an answer.

:tpd: Thats the approach I've been takeing with my liver and it seems to be working! :al ;)

About a year ago I was averaging something like two a day but found it caused some congestion that I don't have to deal with when I smoke more lightly. It was also getting to the point it cost me more than I would have liked (around $4 a cigar x 2 a day x 7 days a week = $48 a week very conservatively :tg ) I'm very happy and far healthier smokeing about 5 a week.

If you are taking antihistamines during allergy season, it will contibute to the dry and nasty mouth situation after smoking a few gars.

I have enough bad habits as it is and I notice a slight health hit when I smoke more than 2-3 a week. Since I would rather enjoy my cigars that just get through them (or have to quit), moderation is no problem.

Well, if I stick to one per day, I never have a problem. On Saturday and/or Sunday I have 3-4 sometimes, and still don't have a problem. But when I'm partying all day (like, erm, Superbowl), I think I had 7 that day and it definitely blasted my mouth and upper throat. But that's only when I REALLY overdo it.
