Most Important Component of a "Good Cigar"?

What is everyones' most important component of a "good" cigar? What makes it your "favorite smoke"? Is it flavor, complexity, burn, consistency, or a combination of the above? I admit that I'm a picky, "perfectionist" old fart! I have to have a combination of the above in a cigar to make it my favorite. Thanks for the input!

Taste aside as we all know it has to taste good. :)

Draw is the biggest factor followed by RG size to me.
I don't want to have to fight to get a mouth full of smoke and I want to feel like I'm smoking a cigar and not a cigarette. Not to say that some small RG cigars don't draw and taste great it's just not my first pick.

All the best,
Al

What he said. There is that sweet spot when you know its "just right". Nothing like it, good draw, good volume.

1. Good Company
2. Good Weather
3. Time

It's not always the cigar....Sometimes its the little things that can make a mediocre cigar great.:2

For me it is a combination of flavor, draw, and burn. A nice appearance is good, but if the cigar is great in all other aspects, it could look like a dog turd for all I care. I might not smoke it in public though :ss

Taste, draw and time to enjoy a good smoke. I like my cigar to get more interesting as I smoke it, sometimes I get bored when the taste doesn't change.

flavor/aroma
construction

if the draw and burn are perfect, there's a 99% chance i will enjoy the cigar. i hate having to re-light or worry about the burn, because then you dont enjoy the cigar.

Al hit the nail on the head here.

If you can't draw,you can't taste...

I don't think its somethign that can be rationalised.

For me, as long as I enjoy the cigar, I couldn't care less about anything else to do with it.

I like that one and agree.

I will also throw construction as well. Nothing worse than a good cigar splitting on you before you were done.

A rough burn always drives me insane. I'm a perfectionist and like to see a razor-edged burn. I haven't had many draw issues but I just throw away any cigars that won't draw.

In order to be a "good" cigar for me there has to be nothing bad about it. That's all, simple.
I have favorites in every type, spicy, mild, creamy, peppery, chocolaty, strong, etc..

I'd have to say complexity is topmost for me. Mild or full-bodied, it doesn't matter--I'm looking for a smorgasbord!

Great topic! I agree with what others have said.

1. Time - nothing like feeling rushed to ruin a smoke.
2. Draw - if the draw is tight I will not bother; I'll get another brand of cigar
3. Body - I like a lot of smoke, the more the better
4. Flavor - the "twangier" the better
5. Finish - I like it if I can still taste it a few hours afterward

I would have to say it is Draw, Flavor, and Burn. Nothin ruins a cigar for me more than a crooked burn. I don't know if it actually effects the flavor of the cigar, but it drives me crazy and takes away from my overall enjoyment.

Actually, I don't mind if the draw is a little tight. Of course, if I can't get the thing to smoke at all it is too tight and not good.

It should not constantly go out on me. I also don't like it if it is rolled and packed super densely. I have often heard that cigars for the American market are rolled/packed denser because Americans have more of a tendency to hold the cigar between their teeth while smoking or to keep it in their mouth puffing along while they do other things. We all know this from the movies. The cigar needs to be denser or harder for this otherwise it would disintegrate quickly.

Not sure if this is true but it makes sense.

Of course, taste is the final thing we are all after. But, like y'all said, if the draw isn't at least correct then you won't get great taste even from a good leaf.

I like a cigar to start out good and get better as I go.
I hate when the first inch is lousy. That seems to happen to me a lot.
