Moving and my coolidor

I got orders and have to move. I assume the movers will take my cooler with cigars in it (70qt), but they will have it prolly 3 weeks before i move into my new house. I was going to just throw some bubble wrap in there and make sure the beads are good, maybe tape it shut. Ill bring my humidor with me in the car. Anyone have experience with this?

The big thing you have to be concerned about is the temperature of the moving truck and outdoors, and if the move is going to take a couple of days. It's gonna get mighty hot inside that truck and could damage a good majority of the cigars. Take them with you in your car. Plus, you can make sure they are in a secured spot without being thrown around too much.

Would one of those styrofoam coolers work? Maybe i could consolidate all the boxes into that and throw the beads in there. I drive a trailblazer, but ill have the wife, baby, dog and clothes in there. Maybe somthing smaller would work for me. I dont want the movers to have them either! Just know way to bring the cooler in the car.

How long is the trip in the car from the time you take them out of the cooler until you get to the new place?

That's always a problem with us military people. Although my collection is much larger than it was when I moved, I will have to make similar decisions in the next 5 months as I will be relocating as well. I think I will keep my cigars as close to me as possible. We have a Trailblazer too, so I think I will be making room for my small cabinet humidor in the back. Hopefully, I can move her around without damaging with the hand truck.

The trip is a few days, but the movers would have the cooler, so it would be a few weeks till i got it back.

For a few days all you need to do is keep the cigars from getting too hot and dried out. If space is limited put them in anything you can seal, a trash bag with your beads or even a duffel bag you can put bags into, just to keep them from getting dried out. You can take the duffel bag into hotels at night if stopping. Once you get where your going buy a temp cooler until the old one gets there.

Ill just have to consolidate all the half boxes, pack the humi full and buy a smaller cooler for the trip. Maybe i could use it when im done to keep drinks cold someday, if coolers even do that!

I just recently moved from Detroit to Phoenix. I shipped my belongings in pods, which took about 10 days to arrive. I boxed my coolers in cardboard boxes with plenty of tissue paper to keep everything secure and express shipped them to my new place. Quick and pain free. It was pricey to ship something as big as coolers, but ultimately, it was worth it to have them arrive the way that I packaged them without any question of heat/humidity damage.

Why not send it UPS ground to your new address. The cigars that is, not your wife.:ss
The house im moving into wont be finished until a few weeks after i get there. Im moving into new base housing, so i wont really have a address until then. Ill just throw the wife on the roof rack.
