multi probe digital hygrometer help

So i did a search and the closest thing i could find to my question was Craig's thread, but he was looking for one that would be used for outdoor conditions.

I need something like his, but without the rain/wind/nifty gadgets you might like for outdoor use. I will be using this one for a vinotemp when spring/summer rolls around and would like to get everything i need for it before i go out and buy the vinotemp itself.

I'm looking for a wireless digital hygrometer that can have more then 3 probes used at once but for a decent price (not 250+dollars for just the base then another 50+ for each prove). All it needs to do is be accurate and read RH and Temp and i'm happy.

is there even such a hygrometer? that can have more then 3 or 4 probes, decently priced, and doesn't have all the extra stuff for outdoor use? or am i dreaming?

Here is something on Cigarmony a base unit with a sensor and then you can buy two extra sensors. The total would be around $120. Oh it has all the other weather info you don't want though.

Ahh I missed the more than 3 sensors requirement - I read it as requiring 3 sensors - Ryan are you going to have more than 3 Vinotemps or are you planning on putting sensors in multiple locations within the same unit?

There is a thread farther down this page started by str8dge that has some research into this problem included. Might be worth a look. Paul

gonna have multiple locations within the same unit. I'm OCD when it comes to that. My 300ct humi currently has 2 digital hygrometers and 2 analog hygrometers. I could do with 2 but i had an extra 2 laying around.

Don't forget to download all the data so you chart trends and make sure your humi isn't cheating when you're not looking. :ss

i already did. Craig's is for outside so he's looking at better ones that cost a lot more then what im looking to spend.

Are you sure you need more than three exterior sensors? And are you sure they all need to be controlled from the same base unit?

Look at it this way. The vino has a transparent door. You could have three sensors in the vino where you cannot see them without opening the door i.e. back of the shelf or in a cigar box. Then you could use your existing two sensors in a place where you can just look at them through the door. In addition, you could actually put the base unit in a visible location within the vino, too. The base unit has its own sensor. So you would have altogether 6 sensors in one vino, three visible at a glance and three in remote locations with one of those readable via the base unit. So you could get humidity and temperature reading at four locations at a glance.

Sounds sufficient to me for even the most OCD'd. :)

A very similar unit to the one linked to is available at Target for $40. I calibrated sensor and base unit together in the same tupperware box. The sensor is quite exact at +1 percent but the base unit was off at -11 percent. Not a big deal once you know that it is off, though. I just add 11 to whatever it reads.

I suggest once you get the vino and your little hygrometer collection, you calibrate them in a tupperware box with the salt test in the vino itself. By the way, my Oregon Scientific did need a full 48 hours before it really maxed out.
